    Dear IT,SEO,Google maniacs, gurus.

I would like to ask you whether redirecting traffic from an old site to a new one will completely destroy the old's site google ranks?

The old website can be closed anytime, weeks, months so I thought I would ask the most experienced about their opinion. I would like to switch from .com (ICANN) to .ch or .to domain. I thought if there is some time left I could get some traffic and customer to the new website until the old one is closed.

And if that makes any sense, how would you do it ?

If it's the terrible idea, tell me I'll glady hear it and hope I can learn for future.

    Thank you for your time.
