I have multiple domains all related to the same niche and I would like to redirect them to my main website. What I want to know is if this will be good or bad for seo. How will it affect it?

Your main site will benefited only if the sites you redirect are aged, have good authority & link juice. Otherwise it'll not have any real positive effect on the main site.

    Instagood,

To elaborate on what qrazy wrote, in order for those domains to have the link authority, they need to have content and be reputable sites.

Even if the redirects don't help in terms of SEO, you could still get a lot of traffic if there are many inbound links to those domains. Of course it would only matter if the traffic were interested in the content that was one the main domain.

Personally I wouldn't waste your time doing this unless the traffic received from the redirects is of value to you.

    Best,

    Shawn

the only benefit would be if the domain carried any link juice from existing backlinks. then the redirect would give the link juice to the main site, however if I were you I would set up blogs on those domains and link to your main site, or even better rank all of these domains and when they are ranking highly redirect them to your main site.

Would having links inside the content of these websites which point to my main site be beneficial?

That's what he was referring to above with regards to using them as a blog instead. You may get some link juice still, but if done correctly you could increase SERPs to your main site for targetted keywords

I agree with grazy, but make sure you use a 301 redirect to pass the link juice from one domain to the other.
