I wanted to ask your opinion about this method, which is probably been used already, but I cannot find info about it. Maybe because I don't know the right term also..

Assume I am buying a domain xxx.com, I redirect this domain to some awesome useful website/page. I share it around, people keep on sharing it, it appears on many forums and etc., everyone is happy.

Then at some point, I redirect xxx.com to my affiliate link. Since the link is already shared around and posted everywhere with the description that it's a very useful website people will still keep on clicking on it..

Can anyone share their experience with this method?

    Thanks

I suppose it might work, until it gets flagged for being spam.

Would be good to hear someone's experience with that :)
Because the details is what's interesting here.. how much time it took it to get flagged, what happened in between, was it a one time case or always got flagged eventually and etc.

You can do that, and people would land on the offer. If you can make the context work and convert them, you'll make money. Question is how much traffic you can pull like that. Unless mass posting, it doesn't look scalable imo.

well, I was asking in general.

For example, I have an affiliate link for adult cam website. So, it's hard to make it go viral or post it everywhere (yes, I know there are ways, but still) and in most places it will be probably deleted.
So if I would provide a useful link in the beginning. it could be self-created content or even a link to some great page. let's say some great collection of something. So my posts with the link around the web would not be deleted.

Then I change it to the affiliate link.. makes sense?

I've got a similar case. I'm looking at buying an expired domain that still gets substantial traffic and then redirect it to my offer?
    How possible is it?

I am not sure it's a similar case, since the traffic to your domain is coming from organic Google I suppose.. so once the content is gone, it will drop in SERP for these keywords.. am I missing something?
