If I want to redirect to another site, do the redirect URLs have to have an actual site setup.
At the moment my sister and I have many URLs for the same niche. It is geographical to do with an offline business we run.
We want to redirect all those sites ( unused URLs) to one main site.

The domains are not currently set up. How does Google find them to redirect if there are no domains on the sites ......all keyword rich.
If people search for the kw they wont show up in search so how do they redirect?
Would really appreciate an answer from the members on this forum who are savvy with redirects.

Thanks

there is no need to setup a site to redirect urls. You can simply go and redirect those URL's to your main domain.

where did you bought that domains? if godaddy.. then there is an option to redirect URLs to main site. hope it helps

Probably you have the option to redirect on the site you bought the domains. If not, you have to set up a site and then redirect.

yeah it will depend where the domains are, but only in rare cases you will need site set up. If you need site set up you may use 301 redirect from CP or direct admin, htaccess, php header include in the index file etc

for godaddy : domain manager - click domain - under domain information click "forwarding"
