They can smell deception from 100 kilometers away, they won't click on your promoted link, they won't complete your offer to get locked content, and they'll worry about their network security at any time.
Does anyone have successful promotion stories and experiences on Reddit?

Reddit is not for easy money, They are one of the thoughest and most profitable as well.

Not sure what is your strategy but you'll need to look as natural as posible, try to buy some upvotes perhaps and do not just go around sharing your links share regular content and value, having your own subreddit may be a good idea.

Best way to earn the trust is ego stroke the sub "heros" Its Just like high school date the cool popular girl/guy and suddenly you're cool and popular. Say what the users are going to like not necessarily the truth.

It's much better to build your own community on Reddit and game it that way. Build up the accounts from scratch with different dates and different IP addresses.
Also, make sure that you've got 4-5 admins on the subreddit that you have access to the login details for.

It takes quite a while to build up a community on Reddit, but it's totally worth it.

In my experience, Reddit works on reputation. If you can establish or acquire an account that has big reputation and authority in a certain subreddit, you will prosper.

Guys on there all seem to be lining up to suck up to the big names, even if they say contradictory, stupid or controversial shit. I was able to buy a few of such accounts for a couple hundred bucks and the return was insane.

Like somebody else already suggested, creating your own subreddit is another great way to control and build reputation. It's slower though, and takes more resources.

This.

In this game, you need to understand your audience and act always one step ahead.

Reddit userbase, is mainly composed by nerds (or users with a tendency to be nerds, which is different) and according to statistics around 80% of Reddit traffic is US based.
This way, you need to approach this specific userbase in a right & unique way in order for you to get what you want.

Reddit is indeed a HUGE source of high quality traffic if you understand and know what you're doing, you can do amazing things.
Having a high quality sub-reddit (in terms of design, rules & regulation, content uploaded etc) you can promote almost anything and make money from target publicity through multiple ways or even redirect high quality traffic into your niche website.

A few tools can help with this process, of building a strong community and yes you need some budget to start things.
However, you can automate almost everything to boost this process.

If you lift your head up you'll see we're in it already.
At the time of the post, it was not in this forum. Moderator must have moved it.

Also, to the OP, I have been fairly successful on Reddit. Although lately, it has been much tougher. Reddit seems to be tightening up their spam measures and so I would suggest, if applicable to you, that you work more on promoting things in a less obvious way.

It's tough. They only trust old high comment karma account. If your niche is NSFW then i think it's one of the best place to promote your content.
