I swear, these neckbeard Reddit mods never fail to piss me off.
I made a fresh account intending to promote a particular Clickbank product… Joined a relevant subreddit and start providing value commenting on hot posts WITHOUT EVEN ADDING ANY LINKS…
Every comment I was making was quickly becoming top comment. 30 comments in and I already had made 3 conversions, netting me ~$500 for about 2 hours worth of work. Not too shabby, could have easily scaled this up.
The secret sauce was this…
On my Reddit profile, I linked a blogger.com post… They allow you to add custom URL’s to your profile, and I took advantage of that. The article contained very valuable content, was hand-written, and ultimately contained my aff link (in the form of a 301 redirect). The purpose of this article was to pre-sell the product and build rapport (shoutout to @BassTrackerBoats for giving me advice on this).
Within 5 hours I was fucking banned. Not just from the subreddit I was promoting in, but from Reddit entirely.
I’m sitting here scratching my head, not even worried about the money, but just thinking that these pricks must have literally clicked my profile, gone to my blog, and determined that I was affiliated with the product I was promoting in my blog.
Reddit used to be a goldmine for me not even that long ago.
Just goes to show that as internet marketers, we need to be constantly evolving and outsmart those that have the power to hinder our success.
What could I have done differently here?
