    TL;DR?
Free Tumblr Traffic > Personal Website > RedBubble Sales
Fiverr Clicks > Personal Website > Adsense Revenue
Fiverr Seller Account > Gig Revenue

Hello all! Just a warning, this will be a very long one? I talk a lot, as you?ll see, and have been on this journey for 3 months so I?ve got a lot of back story and data to share. Personally, I get annoyed when someone posts a journey thread and they barely give any details, maybe that?s what I?m supposed to do ? but I always felt like more is always better. I am 27 years old, married with 4 children (I know!) and have a great 9-5 career. IM has always been a passion for the challenge, fun, excitement of a sale and basically look at is as cash to reinvest or have some fun with. For instance when I want to buy something for myself I justify it to my wife by saying things like ?It?s website money.?

I?ve been a member of BHW since June, as a previous account (too many email accounts, can?t find which one I signed up with originally and what password I used) and since November with this one. I?ve been a lurker for a bit longer than that, and only setup an account to make another post (you can search Typhoonicano for my other long winded method post) to get some ideas with what I was working on. Unfortunately shortly after that I lost my account information and had to abandon the IM world for a little to focus on other things.
In November I had some free time (laid off) and started digging into the IM world again. Since then I have been using or have acquired the following income sources and tools. In Green/Black are the figures I?ve been paid and earned but not paid yet. For the tools, the red is the amount I have paid for them.
    Income
RedBubble Artist Account with 18 designs active ($211.85/$253.44)
    ShareaSale (Specifically, RedBubble Affiliates) ($0.00/$3.12)
    Adsense ($121.67/$261.74)
    Amazon Associates ($0.00/$0.00)
    Fiverr ($0.00/$16.00)
    Totals ($333.52/$518.30)

    Tools
    Picloadr Premium (-$10.00/4mo)
    TumblingJazz (-$70.00)
    Autoblogging .com (-$12.00/yr)
    Personal .com (-$12.00/yr)
Fiverr - (-$105.00) [this number dates back to a year or so before even using this service for IM, just don't feel like totaling how much of this was actually IM... I'd say maybe $50]
    Bulk Download Images ZIG (free)
    Googleimageripper .com (free)

    Total (-$209)

The method I?ve been using has come from reading and watching a lot of journeys and methods out there, it may not be getting me rich ? but up to this point it?s been relatively passive and easy enough. I also believe it?s relatively scalable, I just want to come up with the best method/idea to scale before I do it. Some parts are whitehat, some not so much (and I know I will be advised against doing them). My goal is to spend $0 more on any product or service, with the exception of the fiverr gigs that I use ($10 a month)

I?ve created a few products on Redbubble in a niche aimed at the late teen early adult sort of market. I created a collection of them and linked to one another in the descriptions.

I then post on my adsense enabled autoblog .com a post with the photos/links to the products and a quick description of each one of them, nothing too intense.

From there I downloaded ~300 photos related to the niche, so if the product was a design about Tony Hawk, I would download 300 photos of Tony Hawk tricks, other skateboarders, etc and queue those onto a Tumblr account using Picloadr with relevant tags. Along with the tags, there would be a brief description ?Check out some awesome Tony Hawk related shirts here!? as well as creating the click-through-link on the image to also direct to the website post mentioned above.

For bulk image downloading the combination of the two free tools (chrome extension and website) make it so you can easily search for a term, ?load more images? until you have loaded ~300, and then click on an image to make it fullsize and if you use the extension it will download the 300 images all full sized.
Each Tumblr account is setup to post every 30 minutes, 24/7. The max queue for a Tumblr account is 300 at a time.

The idea of this setup is to put your links out there to be searchable through popular/niche tags and allow for discovery from other Tumblr users. Once those users reblog/like it becomes higher up on the searches for those tags, and ultimately gets your link more exposure. Obviously the more dedicated of a niche, and the more compelling the image content is, the better activity it will get. On average my posts range from 5-55 notes in their life cycle, considering there are posts going every 30 minutes on each blog I do, it adds up to some relatively decent traffic/followers on my blogs.

To date I have received 189 individual product sales at a 10% markup on the items. It?s not much, at an average of only $2 per sale (a lot of those individual products were stickers, which is a $.10 margin, in case you?re keeping track), but I pretty consistently have gotten a sale per day, with the holiday season bringing in 5-7 per day for a couple of weeks.

Redbubble also organizes all of the items by tags in order of most popular (most sold). One of my designs in particular has done very well, rising from 500[SUP]th[/SUP] to 10[SUP]th[/SUP] for the particular search terms and the organic traffic actually pulled ahead of the Tumblr traffic to the point for the past 4 weeks I haven?t run any campaigns on Tumblr, yet have still had sales each day. RedBubble allows you to ?update product image? and information anytime you want, so I have since switched this image/niche for a completely different niche and keywords, but with the previous sales from the other design I was able to leapfrog a lot of competition and land on page one for the new niche design.

Along with this, as a supplemental albeit most likely short term source of income, I also use a particular Fiverr gig to receive a few clicks a day on the ads found on my website (which has the Tumblr traffic filtering through). I have been paid for a months worth of that, but I do understand that it will most likely get shut down. It is nice, though, in the interim to have a little additional for a service I don?t actually really use otherwise.

A couple of days ago I also opened up a Fiverr gig service providing two services (one of which is the method I used before, with music). My gigs are relatively easy to complete, and another way to potentially add a few dollars in earnings every month. I have already gotten a few orders for those, so it?s at least off to a good start ? hopefully

So what are my goals? I think I?m off to a decent start. Right now I make about $10 a day from diversified sources, though when Adsense blows up I will lose a decent bit of that. I would love to set a goal of $50 or more a day, but I don?t think that is reasonable. I?d like to start by getting $10 a day with only RedBubble.
I have yet to use TumblingJazz for my campaigns, but believe with a large portfolio of items/the affiliate account (which also provides 10% margin off sales, and you get a super long cookie ? downside is you don?t get the residual passive income from your products ranking and word of mouth) things could definitely scale up.

    My goals for the weekend:
    Setup TumblingJazz Finally
    Create 5 New Products
Create Image Blast Campaigns for those 5 Products

I will report back on Monday with my progress on those goals, and total revenues for the weekend

Any hints, tips, suggestions, questions would be awesome. The only reason I?m doing this as a journey and not just continuing to do what I have been is to share ideas with one another, and to perfect our craft.

    Thanks!

Appreciate the heads up. I haven't actually used any of the social features found on RedBubble, so maybe I will toy with some manual likes/favorites/follows and go from there depending on if/what sort of action I see from it!

    Sunday Update

Not quite the entire weekend being over, but I figure it'd be good to sit down and do my update now while I watch the football games.

I was able to get my campaigns going for 5 products, but unfortunately did not create any new products - just built up the promotion for 5 existing items. I also didn't get into Tumbling Jazz... I still find myself trying to visualize exactly how to use it. My method relies on discovery of the images by people searching for niche tags, finding mine and reblogging/liking. While I have some followers on my accounts, I use them more like churn and burn than I do anything else. (for the record, I have yet to have a blog get banned using this method - maybe something to do with posting through Picloadr, instead of directly through the website?)

    Friday/Saturday Sales: $6.33

Not the best weekend for sales, unfortunately, but this weekend was completely based on passive residuals, as I hadn't started the new Tumblr campaigns until last night.

Encouraging? No. Much of an update? No.

But it's motivating to post, so I figure why not.

    Thanks for reading!

24 Hours after the last update I've gotten $6.57 more in sales - some of these are returns from the new Tumblr campaigns that I had sent out. I feel like $6ish a day is quite modest, but at the same time it's more than half way to my initial goal of $10/day. I'm not counting the Adsense revenues here until they pay out on a monthly basis, since I don't trust that the payouts will continue. I know I didn't reach the threshold for a January pay out, so the next time we'll find out will be late February.

I have two sets of "He's My" "She's My" shirts that I am advertising as a holiday (Valentines Day) cash grab. It's definitely helped convert some single sales into doubles (someone buys matching shirts for the holidays... apparently people do that. Makes me uncomfortable). I will run those until the first weekend of February (when sales would no longer ship in time) and move on to Superbowl champion shirts (non copyright infringing ones).

I will convert my best selling "products" that I have (one product slot that has generated $1,250 in sales, and another that has generated $411) to the Superbowl Champ theme, and those sales dollars will rank my products above the competition for probably the entire "selling season" on Superbowl gear - I estimate I'll only run those designs for a week, two at most depending on how well it does.

I'd love to figure out ways to find better markets on a more consistent basis. That's definitely the goal of everyone in IM, of course, but a better way to find new keywords specifically on RedBubble would be incredibly helpful. I've found that making decent designs is easy, but there's a sweet spot of finding just the right sized market.

A little bit earlier of an update today, than usual, as I've got a meeting this afternoon that will go into the evening. It hasn't been 24 hours yet, so I'll update here and then start doing a "Sales yesterday" sort of deal. I'll also keep a running total of sales since this thread was started on Friday 01/16/2015.

My new goals are to create some more Tumblr accounts (right now I use about 6 blogs total, to get these numbers - some promote the same things, some promote others). If I can make one new account a day, with two sub blogs each, that will go a long way - the next step after that is to continue building the products available/content that I push out.

    Yesterdays Sales - $10.04

Total Purchases Since Thread - $0.00
Total Income Since Thread - $23.11

Not much exciting in terms of updates. Mid week is usually slow for this sort of business - The weekend and paycheck buyers hit Friday/Saturday, and other buys wait until Monday/Tuesday to see if they have the money to buy. Not a lot of mid-week sales :(

I did get three "favorites" though, and on RedBubble those are always followed by sales. 204 Sales, with 39 Favorites.

    Yesterdays Sales - $2.08

Total Purchases Since Thread - $0.00
Total Income Since Thread - $25.19

Sorry folks, not much time around for the weekends and all. I took Sunday to go through my blogs, I added 4 new blogs (2 main, 2 sub) and added 4 more products as well. A lot of this will be trial and error to figure out what niches work and which don't. I setup new queues for all of my blogs, and have each of my 15 products being promoted via Tumblr blasts.

As expected, the mid-week lull in sales is typical. The zero sales on Saturday surprised me, but I guess it really does just depend on what is being queued up for those days (I don't do any quality control or review on my photo blasts, so it's possible/typical that sometimes there's a less than inspiring set that gets very little to no attention)

Since setting up the new campaigns and products - the new products alone have gotten 217 views since yesterday afternoon, and overall I'm averaging about 1,500 views/day

    Thursdays Sales - $0
    Fridays Sales - $9.22
    Saturdays Sales - $0
    Sundays Sales - $13.08
Total Purchases Since Thread - $0.00
Total Income Since Thread - $47.49

Still another sluggish day on RedBubble - Still getting a messload of views, though, so that's at least something. I did get an order on Fiverr last night and went ahead and completed that. It was a repeat customer, and I recently upped what I was offering so I expect a little more business from him - especially with the 4 hour turnaround on a gig that suggests it could take a few days.

I had put up a gig on Fiverr for the exact service that I'm doing for my own art/designs. One of the things I'm running into is having an artistic block with what to produce as far as design ideas - I'm also on my last leg with copyright claims (I used a small piece of a photo framed in a letter from a movie, and apparently that was not allowed) so coming up with content is even harder with the threat of losing my account.

The hope with the Fiverr gig isn't too bad. Offer to do the same thing I'm doing for myself (which is quite easy) and make a guaranteed $4+. It's not too bad since it only takes a few minutes of automation to setup, and as long as the gig-buyers product is good - it's a mutually beneficial deal. [Forgot To Add Originally] I sent out about 15 messages on RedBubble (using a separate account) for new-ish users who recently posted new products in niches that I'd feel comfortable blasting Tumblr links for. Want to see where that goes, if at all, before investing any real time into it.

Still working more ideas. I had put up a small little niche website with Amazon Associates that has gotten some hits, but no real sales or anything - it's also just a side thing that I'm not putting too much attention into... I'm not comfortable with SEO, so I'm just letting things organically sit.

I also feel like this thread is a very boring one as far as journeys go, it's not juicy like Amazon/Adsense/Clickbank... But it's mine, and posting is motivating so I'm going to keep going!

    Thanks if you read this!

    Mondays Sales - $6.02 ($4.00 Fiverr)
Total Purchases Since Thread - $0.00
Total Income Since Thread - $53.51

I appreciate dropping by on it. I know I'm a complete newbie here, with plenty to go - but if you have any questions or suggestions, let me know!

I try to talk to my wife about all of this, but it just bores her to death. Hard to bounce ideas off of her, haha

Another slow day, as expected. End of the month really does drag on for sales - not sure if that's an IM thing, or specifically because I'm targeting the 19-29 demographic for my sales.

On Sunday when I had added products and updated the blogs - one blog in particular I posted was just a link to a RedBubble product search through ShareaSale, rather than my own products since it was a niche that I didn't have any products on but wanted to advertise to. That particular campaign has generated 56 clicks to the search, and while no products have been purchased yet the affiliate program does come with a 45 day cookie, so there's plenty of time. Since the sale commissions are the same 10% that I mark my own products up anyways, it's definitely a good idea for the markets where I cannot come up with an original designs. I still like having my own products whenever possible because of the google search/RedBubble search sales that also come in.

I had considered doing an affiliate link to my own product, to promote that particular design that belonged to me but also to capture the cookie if they wander elsewhere... But I have a feeling that would be considered double dipping and I'm not trying to get either account banned through this. It's definitely worth asking though, considering I've gotten 26,000 visits to my products since I started this journey a bit ago - I imagine having that cookie on those guys would have been a beautiful thing.

Goals for the night will include
Coming up with 6 more blogs (3 main, 3 sub) in niches that I do not currently have a product
Use 5 of those blogs to push traffic to the ShareaSale search links
Looking into the potential conflict of double dipping with utilizing ShareaSale on my own products
Look into a product on Amazon that can be reviewed on my website that is relevant to a niche that can be easily targeted using my Tumblr method
Post product review/Amazon associates link on Website
Use 6th new blog to push traffic to the product review on main website

    Tuesdays Sales - $2.95
Total Purchases Since Thread - $0.00 ($20 credit back on Fiverr for a gig that was never completed)
Total Income Since Thread - $56.46
