Interesting article here which claims that one of the best ways to recover from a Panda slap is a link on Best of the Web.
    HTML:
    http://blog.seorevolution.com/2012/04/18/knocked-down-by-panda-get-back-up/
He's also included a link for 50% off bringing it to $150 for a lifetime link. I've just tried it for a big site of mine which has been slapped badly, so will report back on it's efficacy.....

Please keep us posted , although I am not aware how good that can be just looking at who.is record

If they were created in 1996 how are they claiming 1994 anways even 1996 is great and good enough

Getting backlinks on trusted directories, which have genuine editors and quality policies, is always helpful. But I doubt any single backlink is going to put Panda into hibernation.

this guy has a site which claims that BUYING a link can get you out of a panda hole that was intended to penalise all the sites that had BOUGHT links???

does this sound like a crock of shit or is it just me?

and to top it off, he has a convenient affiliate link on his site pointing to them, who also just happen to be running a special 50% off offer

Well, I read up a little bit more about best of the web and many other seo guys say there are only three directories to submit to, Yahoo, DMOZ, and Best of the Web...

So, I took the plunge and bought the lifetime placement with the 50% discount which seems like a good deal...

I'll let you all know if anything happens...

Not to mention the fact that Jerry West is an absolute SEO god. He's been around for years and years which is why some of the best minds in the industry listen to what he has to say.. I'm tending to think this may not be a crock of shit but have some truth in it, since he makes his living off providing advice which is true. So I'm giving it a go...

I dont think its the link that got him out, it is that the penalty expired. I have had that happen to me as well before. I claim bullshit that it was a link that got him out. He is just promoting the promotion that they are having for the 50%. Look at this screenshot:

Basically, one day the traffic just stopped coming in. This was the start of a 3 month penalty. After the 90 days, my site was on page 1. 3months.png

The only way he can prove it was the link that got him out, is if his site came back immediately following the link being added. Something so strong that triggered the algorithm to get him out of that penalty. I highly doubt that is the case. If anything, he bought the link, it didn't do anything, the penalty expired, and his website came back.

Based on the screenshot that is on that page, it looks like a good 3 months that his site was gone as well. I think that whole page is a sales pitch to pay $150/$300 claiming it will get you out of a Panda slap.

Well if it isn't your website, you have made a huge mistake to pay for "The Best Directory of the web".

And if Jerry West is a god in SEO, it seems that this peculiar advice is like a shitty painting of picasso.

Well, I've got a site with a major penalty and I added this link yesterday from BOTW. It's not approved yet but once it is I'll keep an eye on it and report back my findings...

The point is, in any case, that BOTW remains one of the best links you can get from a paid directory - perhaps better than Yahoo and Dmoz. So it's a strong indicator that here is a site run with serious intent and deserving of a rank. On that level there may be some logic to Jerry West's idea...

If you read his full post also, he claims he tested this extensively, over 40 domains which had been Panda slapped. And BOTW was the one thing which worked...

Also, I just don't buy that someone of his stature really cares about making a few bucks of an affiliate fee from referring sign ups to BOTW. He simply doesn't get that much traffic, added to which he's a top SEO mind and is probably making a shit load of money. And the reason he makes that money is his advice - so it's would be doubly not worth it for him to sell out and make some spurious claims on the basis of a tiny payout....

Yeah man, I hope it works for you I will be checking this thread often. If it does work, then I wouldn't mind doing it as well. But I am just skeptical. Hoping for the best though..

Not a bad payout per sale with his affiliate link on his site. I could claim anything as long as it generates some doe.

I highly doubt that getting one link especially paid will get you there, but it could have a small effect, you could get links on several high pr directories case there are more around there...more should be better.
