I need an in depth text book on seo theory... I'm not opposed to think reads and I'm eager to learn more than I simply soak up by lurking here ;)

So... if you could recommend me some reading on the topic of seo I'd appreciate it.

    Thx.

P.S. Plus this way I won't always be asking questions :p

...if you want a highly technical book than Search Engines: Information Retrieval in Practice by Bruce Croft, Donald Metzler and Trevor Strohman might be for you, but beware its written by PHd`s and its techical written and a an indepth introduction to the science and technology of search engines. The book covers all aspects of search engines from crawling to the web all the way to the ranking and presentation of the result list in a clear, well-structured and rigorous fashion...

If you just want to have a book that thinks it knows how to get to Nr.1 than by all means get a book like The Art of SEO: Mastering Search Engine Optimization by Enge and Fishkin, but take into account by the time those books are available, lots has changed already, so following forums like BHW and others will get you most probably more bang for the buck...

IMHO forums are better than any book could every be. all the information in every seo book is already somewhere in this forum. asking questions here is a great way to get specific answers on what you are looking for. answers on forums are always up to date and most importantly have different views which lets you see multiple perspectives and judge for yourself. if you brand new to SEO i suggest checking out warriorforum dot com and its a little more beginner friendly but still has plenty of knowledgable people to help

    hope this helps :)

I agree. IMO the information on this forum is much more synthesized. You must go through tons of cr*a*p before you reach an useful part in 99% of the e-books

....sure i also mentioned that forums are usually much better, cutting edge and up to date, but sometimes one wants a book, i was on a long weekend in a remote location. So sometimes a book is more cosy to read in bed than browsing a website
