So, I am looking to start a blog and push it's PR up as fast as possible using my writing ability and link building methods.

To give me a little motivation, I want to hear TRUE stories about when you started to make dollars, not cents, and how long it took?

    Please be honest.
It's better to hear disappointing stories then non-realistic stories!

    Thanks!

umm... this is a difficult question to answer with out knowing more about what assets/resources you have besides your writing ability and link building methods. So you have a list of any size? I have built blogs and made sales on the first day the site was put up due to having my own traffic streams. Be in a list, rss subs from another blog etc.

I suppose my request was a little too broad.
Mainly all I was wanting to know is how people did with blogs with little to no experience starting out.
Guess I will just have to get out there and see :)

Started with 20€ last year july, couldn't even afford a good logo so someone made one for 5$(thanks to him), build it up(gaming site) the gaming site is making from 1000-2000€ per month and from other projects I make at least 400$ per day. It works my friend but it depents about how much you want it.

I started up a blog 2 years ago about something I love (music), not with the intention of getting money and with no knowledge of blogging, web design, IM, SEO etc.

Since then, I've gone onto get hundreds of thousands of visitors, interviewed some of my favourite singers, met a lot of people in the music industry, gone to festivals for free that last year I was paying a lot of money and waiting a lot of hours to get into and chilled in the press zones with all the TV, radio etc, help some artists really establish themselves, got attention from major labels, BBC etc and help some other bloggers get off the ground and make some casual income.

It's by no means that big and I don't make much money from it but I love doing it and from sticking at it when its seemed like I was getting nowhere and noone was paying any attention, I've gone on to do a lot of things that I didn't think I'd be doing for another 5 or so years!

Don't give up and feel free to PM me if you want any advice!

To tell you the truth, if your focusing on dollars instead of sharing your passion, it is tough to even start making money. You first need to create a connection with your fans. That is all I can say.
