Alright! How is it going BHW. I tried a few years ago, and got offered a nice job, so quit the world of IM. I still have that job, but sadly, am becoming tired of the same routine there. Right now I am just trying to make enough for my car payment (mostly using that as my goal with a physical motivator) but I certainly hope I get a good handle on things and it goes much further than that over time! I will be revealing everything I am doing, please constructively criticize and help this newbie make his mark!

I am looking to build an amazon niche site, as stated in the title, and rank it to make some commissions! Sounds so easy, yet I am relatively lost and learning all I can as fast as I can. I will be using wordpress, I bought the authorityazon template, and intend on using it. Being new I will be trying to follow other successful websites on amazon affiliate marketing, such as pickmyshaver.com.

    To Do Immediately:
    • Find Niche (using LongTailPro for research stats)
      • Looking for main keyword > 4000 searches
      • CPC >= $15
      • Keyword Competitiveness under 40
    • Get Domain Name For Niche
    • Get Hosting Package

    Things To Learn (advice welcomed):
SEO (my god, seems to be so tough)
Best way to get articles, write myself, or outsource.
Do I need a PBN, or nah? I am reading both sides on the topic.
How to properly design a SILO site.

This is where I currently stand, I am working hard but sadly also working my current job also, so cannot be full time here so far. But I sure hope to get there some day. This thread is to help me stay motivated, I read a lot of success on here and I want to be a part of that success, not part of the 90% that quit their journey after a week.

    Day 1:
Found the niche I will be doing, the average CPC is about $16, and average keyword competitiveness according to longtailpro is about 37!
    Bought the domain and webhost!
Waiting on nameservers to sync now, and looking to start content!

    Spent:
    Longtailpro - $47
    Webhost - $9
    Domain - $1
    Template - $67

    Earned - $0

    Total: -$124

Your on the right track, keep focused and stay motivated. Before the end of the day, make a list on a sticky of tasks that need to be complete the next day. When the next day comes do everything on the sticky. You can place new ideas on the sticky throughout your work day to keep your thoughts more organized. Best of luck.

Above the first post to the right hand side of the page you will see a few options to click. Click on "Thread Tools" which will drop a menu, then click on "Subscribe to this Thread"!

OP - I understand where you are coming from. In between jobs I started to play with IM then got an offer I couldn't refuse. Bought a new car and I thought about how to neutralize the payment so I am on a similar path now. I think that's a great motivator and a realistic goal as you are looking to hit about $10 a day.

Best of luck! Looking forward to hearing about your success!

    Day 2:
Well so far day 2 has been sort of a flop. I worked over for a few hours, only to come home and my name servers still have not synced for some reason. While waiting on those to sync up I have went ahead and started some articles on my products and my main page, attempting to focus on the keywords. I must be honest here and say I do not truly know what I am doing other than trying to get a certain keyword density while not spamming the keyword to where it feels unnatural reading it. Not doing the best, any one have good suggestions for outsourcing this?

I am really trying to keep total investment under $300 or so, but if the value of outsourcing articles is worth it, both for speed and quality, I would be more than happy to do so.

    Totals:
    Spent: $124
    Earned: $0

    Grand Total: -$124

Best of luck OP. I personally believe the best way to learn something is to get stuck into it.

I will follow this and I wish you good luck! And the best way to do SEO is to just test it and forget what works for others because same things might not work for you!

    Day 3:
Alright so today not much visual progress, but I did get the name servers and webhost issues resolved, so I now officially have a website of some sort. I gave up on writing the 2000 word article and hired an SEO writer for the one article. I believe I am more suited to writing the smaller articles and reviews for the website. I still have around 120 for my proposed budget, anyone have advice on whether to spend this on more articles to get this up and going faster, or would that money be better spent elsewhere?

I am starting the website focusing on SEO as I am learning as I go. I am still very happy with my keywords, I have around 20-25 of them, I just need to get articles going. If anyone wouldnt mind giving me advice though, should I mass article the website down, or is it better to do like 1 article every couple days?

Thanks everyone for the support and advice! I really do appreciate it!

    Day 6:
Alighty guys, sorry didnt update for a few days, had a lot going on, but didnt quit working, just had reduced time! As far as status update, well, I have finished the basic setup of my website, have a logo made, have a 2000 word article being written, and 30 other articles being written as well. I went ahead and took the advice of a few pm's which said spend the budget on articles and do some SEO and web design myself, so I did.

If anyone would be kind enough to send me a PM (ill be reviewing the names to make sure I feel they are trustworthy) and take a look at my website to see how I did. It is basically my first website so I expect some criticism.

As articles get written, I will start adding them in, probably 5-7 up front, then one every couple days. If anyone has any further advice I am all ears, and as always, thank you all for the advice and support!

    DAY 7:
Added more pages to the website, literally just waiting for them to get delivered, clean them up, and paste them in! Worked on setting up amazon links, again waiting to plug in to content, also worked on my SEO a good portion for the website, with image names, tags, alt tags, etc.

No new money spent, no money gained, still not technically live.

Thanks again for all the pm's and help guys! Appreciate it!
