Anyone else hear the crappy news?

https://www.rdio.com/news

Some sources hint that the company may have gone bankrupt, but I suspect the buyout by Pandora and decision not to keep Rdio's excellent service running is a purely selfish business tactic.

Spotify isn't available in my country, so I guess it's back to "acquiring" music for me.

A pity that that Rdio is not going to be available soon. Why don't you just use a proxy/ VPN to access spotify instead?

I was considering it, it just seems like such a hassle, just to listen to music.

It's the same story with South Africa and Netflix, or any computer game with DRM. If you want to do things legally, your life will be more difficult.

Maybe a hassle just to listen to music, but I live in America and use VPN/proxies for Netflix, it's the best way to get the most out of their service since they have different movies available to different countries all around the world :D

How about music.google.com? I use that since some time. Pretty much the same as spotify.

Why you don't use YouTube to listen to music..

Because I don't want to stream all the time. Rdio gave you the option to download the song locally, saving me a lot of data in the long run.

I was under the assumption that this wasn't available in my country either, looks like this might just work for me, thanks for the suggestion.

Sounds like a company who thought they bought radio.com for an awesome deal, thens aw their mistake and decided to try and brand it anyways.

OP, blame your country for why you can't get Pandora. It is likely an issue of gross revenues being ridiculous. That's at least why they pulled out of Canada.

I listen songs on YouTube, download the ones I like then listen to them on my computer. But I never actually heard of that site haha

LOL I couldn't give a crap about Pandora though. I think they knew what they were buying, but they saw them as competition that needed to be eliminated.

In any case, I mostly used the app on my phone, rather than the website. Pandora bought out everything, not just the site.
