Not sure who remembers, but I ran a case study before about link building with pretty much ONLY raw url, no keyword anchors, and saw success with it. I got a PM a little earlier about someone referring to the case study and asking if the sites I only used raw URL link building with were effected by the update, and I checked them. They were all not affected, which means they either held their rankings or saw some increases. This sort of opened up my eyes a bit and I thought I'd share it with you guys. Raw URL seems to be a nice safety net when you're in doubt about your link building strategy. It does make a lot of sense when you look at it in terms of logic, because when people naturally talk about and link to a website they feel is worth mentioning, they usually just copy and paste the URL. Honestly, how likely is the average joe going to type out <a href= blah blah, or even take the time to link a site to an anchor?
