I was ranked 5 on the first page and I kind of accidentally switched my site to www. And have been tanking sense. I recently changed it back but am still slipping steadily now I'm at 24. Does anyone know if I'll recover fully? It's been about 5 days since I changed it and it has showed up in SERPS changed bak

stop switching your domain! you're basically putting a 301 redirect from one to the other, same as if you were redirecting to a new domain all together. It can take 2-3 weeks for all your rankings and links to be fully integrated into the redirect, and even then you might lose out on a relatively small percentage of rank and link juice. So best advice is to put your site as you had it (unless you have very specific reasons for switching out your domain url), and sit tight for up to 3 weeks. and your domain should slowly come back to it's original standing.

I mean I switched it by accident and lost rankings! And recently switched it back because all the links were pointing to it without the www.

I didn't mean to switch it at first lol thought it would be best to swith it back so I did but
I'm still consistently slipping in SERPS

like I said, you initiated a redirect. redirects take time to propagate. It happens anytime you transfer domains. Sit tight for a couple of weeks, more than likely you will be right back or very close to where you started.

SEO_Alchemy already answered your question, you initiated a 301 redirect and Google will slowly deindex all your pages without www and index them again with www. The process has already begun and by switching back you have again reset and initiated yet another 301 so Google now will start the process again so all the switching is why your site is not ranking. Sit tight and wait and learn from this not to unnecessarily mess around with your site (...by accident!).
