    Hi,

Sorry for the very vague title. I had no idea how to really word it, especially with the limitation of how long the title can be.

I am having trouble working something out. Let's say I make a video on YouTube and optimise it so that it will come up when people search for that specific product, ie:

    Goolgle search: <product type> <city>

So if I was selling computer speakers in New York, and I wanted my video to pop up, I would optimise it for:

Google search: computer speakers new york

    Something to that effect.

But how do I get it ranking at the top if someone FROM new york types in 'computer speakers' without the new york following it or before it? I know one way to help would be tagging the actual video of where it was recording (tag it so it was recorded somewhere in NY) but is that all that needs to be done?

Right now I am in this situation and I have tagged my video in a certain city but it is only popping up top of Google when someone types in <product> <my city> but I want it to pop up when they just google the product, and are situated in my city.

Currently, I have been building backlinks to my YouTube video in the form of "computer speakers new york" so that is why it is popping up for those keywords. But say I wanted my video to pop up for people in new york searching 'computer speakers', would I just build links with anchor text 'computer speakers' to my video, then Google would show the most relevant results to the user, and if they happen to be in NY, then my video would be shown?

Sorry if this is a lot of confusion. I hope it makes sense to you!

    Kind Regards,
    Krzysiekz

you would also need a decent amount of views for your videos in order to rank on the google SERP's your keyword though looks kind of tough to have a YT video rank for it i usually see YT videos rather rank for long tail keywords.

Use the tags that the top youtube video that you're trying to tackle has. Backlink, web 2.0 etc..

    Well,

I am already at the top of google for the keyword 'product city' and a variation of that, I just want to pop up for a user in the city when they search for 'product'.

There is currently no other YouTube video popping up there at all! :)

Don't forget that you can geo target your videos. There's an option in the edit area to add it to a map. Keep building backlinks to it and hopefully with the geo targeting and backlinks it will rank for what you want.

OP: Do what Jericho suggested together with getting decent amount of views in the region of a million +. That should be able to do it.

    Cheers,
