For one of my sites i am Ranking Third for a Keyword which has 90,000 searches, after a long struggle..But where are the visitors Going?

I am just getting 100 visitors from that keyword.....That is just 3000 visitors a month....where are the other 87000 going?

All of them just visit the sites in 1 and 2 positions?
Or is the stats shown by google keyword tool wrong?

First off did you select "Exact Match" or "Broad" in the google tool?

40% of searches go to the first result, 10% to the second, something like 3-4% the third and pitlings below that.

I went from #3 to #2 and traffic doubled for a site of mine.

Yeah it depends on Broad Vs Match and how many keyword research tools did you compare it across. Google can sometimes be hopelessly wrong - i usually run it through Google's keyword tool and sktool, MSN ad intelligence and the adwords estimator to get a rough idea of what the traffic might be.

Even then there's still a lot of guesswork involved.

That's a Exact match only....like "How to XXXXXX"

Maybe you guys are right....i have to go to the second position and Try the number of visitors.

What other keyword tools are there to estimate traffic....(Other than the above friend mentions?)

I have tried a few others but they are all showing small amount of searches....Don't know if they are correct...

try out keyw0rd disc0very search tool . since lot of factors are taken in to account for analyzing search count, don't chase the numbers mate be logical while choosing keyw0rds.

always look out for G insight which gives you a rough idea of KW that folks are really searching for or not.
