Hey guys... I have a low competition KW for an offline business, and I was thinking of creating a tumblr and ranking it on Google...

    Here's my strategy/thinking...

Create 15 manual web 2.0's (tier 1) (with 2 pages/posts of 500+ pieces of content) that link to the tumblr blog (which will have 6-7 pages and 3 videos)

Then blast my tier 1 group with tier 2 links and a few social signals.

Would you consider this a churn and burn method? Do you think it'll last for awhile? I know anchor text and follow/nofollow links will be important to consider...

    What are your thoughts?

Sounds like a worthy process to test to see what happens.

I'd be giving that a try if I were you.

BTB, you're a pretty smart cat man... I will try it out.

I've said it on numerous posts (and I'll say it again) that I'm still trying to learn SEO, and I figure that the only way I'll learn is by asking questions and testing.

    This forum is great!!

Mind if I ask you what kind of anchor text ratios you would use?

You'll learn more from testing than ANYTHING else. And you can't just test a small sample size. You should test 5-10 web2.0's as money parasites. Try different techniques of linking for each one. Think BIG not in a tunnel. The more data you have the more you can learn. After awhile you'll know exactly what works for you. THEN you can do THAT in mass and scale up your money.

On this current deal you're doing, I would NOT look to use parasites as a "linking" vehicle to other parasites. I'd use them as the "money site" in essence. Link to them with the highest authority links you can afford. You will likely enjoy the results.

    Good luck!

P.S. Low competition and offline biz don't always go hand in hand, meaning what you THINK is low comp often isn't online. If it is truly low competition, you really won't need to many links to rank a parasite for it. If you don't get the desired result, you will want to likely push more links at it. Local SEO has gotten plenty strange in the last 6 months. Really depends on the industry. You may want to also look at chasing some more "online" low comp keywords for your parasite tests.

    Just an FYI...Good luck.

I use 12 - 15% generic, another 10 - 15% naked links and the balance spread out using anchor text that is part exact and part LSI.

Good point buddy. Your insight is definitely solid. However, the reason it is low competition is because it only happens during the holidays :p

    hahahahaha, good point though.

Oh sweet. That would be perfect for this situation.

However, it's probably a little high for other situations, right?
