how does google treat redirects to the same domain? For an example im trying to rank a website that is mostly image based. the idea is i would write content based around the keyword im trying to rank for in a wordpress blog but when a user clicks on the link in google, they get redirected to the home page of the website and not the link of the post they clicked on. The post would be in the same site but I just want them to start at the landing page and not the blog post. Sort of a redirect to a landing page. Anyone know if thats allowed by google?

Don't do that. Is bad. Is against Google's T&C to deliver one page to its crawler and a different one to a human. There are exceptions on how to do it and be ok with Google but this is not one of them. Just modify the template of those pages so that there is some delicious call to action link that will take the visitor where you want it to end up.

That being said I believe the BH guys know ways not to get detected, so maybe one of them steps in and gives you a suggestion how to do it.

ah thats really sucks. My website is image based and not really text content. I guess ill try to think of a way to integrate it with a tempting call to action to get visitors to click to the page i want them to.

    is this cloaking?
    my 404 looks like this:

    one moment please....

and then it redirects to my homepage.

I have a lot of pages that google thinks still exist, so they appear in the google results, but then if someone clicks on that, it shows one moment please... and it redirects to my homepage. sure sounds similar to what the OP described. This is not against googles ToS, is it?
