im wondering if i can still rank in google if I update my site daily with artilces from ezine articles, then submit my own original articles to directories in order to get backlinks. Will google rank my site or look at it as duplicate content and not rank it?

The Google duplicate content penalty is a really big grey area. Event he "experts" here will bicker back and forth on it.

In short, everyone agrees that it can't hurt, or else everyone would be doing it to their competitors.

Personally, I've used dupe content (or crappily spun content) and have seen no adverse effects. Maybe it didn't help as much as it could have it, but it helped out just the same.

I used duplicate content to rank one of my sites on page 2, and PR 2. I also ranked a blogspot blog to PR3, page 1 with dupe content. I've also got another site that gets updated daily with original content, and it's a PR0 , but ranked in the serps god. So go figure.
