    Hi,

I want to rank on local Google website (not .com). How do I do it? (Beside targeting the keywords using specific language, because they are the same as in English).

    Thank you.

Register your site on webmaster tools, pick the country on the configuration.

On your hosting provider pick a IP from your country, if you can.

Make a search on the norms, trick, specificity of your target country on IM blog/forums/site of your country.

Then the link building process is the same.

Is it required to have your site hosted in that country? Can I just buy a domain with that extension instead?

You need to get links from the country extensions. Like if you are targeting google.fr, then .fr links are the best and must needed links for your website. Forum discussions in those .fr forums will give you the perfect boost that you need for your website. Others are all the same, just do whatever you do with other websites to get ranked.

Google will automatically do it for you if your site is hosted in your targeted country or the domain extension from of that country. So no need to create a GWT.

Exactly. I ranked my site in top 3, however it was in Google.com which I actually wasnt targeting. For my local Google it was on page 2 and just because of the backlinks were too much from English sites.
