    Hi guys,

I live in The Netherlands and my website ranks first page for two major keywords on the 3rd spot for both, even above Wikipedia. Now this was alot of work to get, but now we made it and ofcourse we all know, you're never done.

Now the Dutch google (.nl) im ranking well, no issues, hitting 5000 visitors a day(!). Now the Belgium Google..i get maybe 10 or 20 a day. While they speak the same language and my site is suited for that country, i have about 400 belgium visitors in total every day. But i want more, my question is, how can i rank higher in the Google(.be). I have tried alot and my geuss is backlinks from .be websites, but i'm not sure about this.

Build a similar site using a .be domain.

    - .be domain
    - hosted on a server in Belgium
    - backlinks from other .be sites and from sites hosted in Belgium

To be honest I don't think the host matters. The domain is the most important stuff, as well as the content. Write stuff targeted for Belgium users.

I did something similar when I wanted to rank in a specific country of America and doing this got me #1 (even though my hosting server was in a totally different country)

Thats the total, the 10/20 a day is from Belgium via Google.

I heard somewhere one guy saying he was playing with the GEO targeting inside GWT, switching between 2 countries every now and then and finally his site was ranking well in both countries.

I'm not. I haven't got the time to test it myself. Use it on your own risk.
It's an interesting idea nonetheless, this is why I decided to share it.

build a .be domain, and host it in belgium, that way both domain and ip match and google will use your results more since you are a "belgian" site

Just for clarification: it seems obvious that be targets Belgium, but what about net, org - are they international or still tied to a country, e.g. USA? And what about eu - does that rank well for the whole of Europe?
