    Hey guys,

The other week I discovered what I thought to be a very profitable and uncompetitive keyword, so i bought a domain with the keyword in and my plan was to make a single blog post with a hand written good article that links to a CPA offer.

Turns out I didnt do my research that well and my google search for the keyword and the keyword in quotes showed very different results when dont from a US proxy (im in the UK)

anyway, im still going to go ahead and try and get in the top 10 for it. The blog itself is 1 post and 2 pages (a privacy page and a contact page) Do you think that the lack of content is going to hinder my chances at ranking well? Im currently making my backlinking strategy and will be including:

    -article submission
    -blog comments
    -directory submission
    -social bookmarking
-high pr profile creation (angelas links etc)
    -forum posts

Will I be able to rely on lots of good backlinks to rank high even with only 1 real page of content?

    thanks!

If I were you, I would stop everything and start assessing the competition for that particular keyword first. Forget what you THINK it would be worth, start checking what it IS worth to others now. If they're easy to beat, you seem to know enough to do it. If not, think if you can fight an attrition war - when someone makes an attempt for my keywords, I give them hell served cold on a plate. Just my 2c....

I've seen plenty of 1 page sites rank. If you got the .com or .org domain name, you should be able to get top 15 almost instantly. Having a ton of content only helps with internal linking or for long tail search terms and you really need thousands of pages before internal linking can even tip the scales.

Thanks for the advice guys, I am going to check the top 5 and see how there doing.

In terms of the keyword value, well I would consider myself a novice when it comes to determining that, BUT adwords tool says that this keywords get 5600 global searches a month and thats for the EXACT keyword search, for a broad search it gets 15,300 a month. I would also consider the keyword to be a buying keyword aswell.

I've just checked part of the competition, the number 3 spot has a domain name with the keyword in, he has a single page of content and according to a backlink checking tool online, he has 85 backlinks and a pagerank 0 domain.

You could also look into using the likes of Market Samurai or Micro Niche Finder in your keyword research as you can make them use the US stats to get around having to use a US proxy for keyword research.

Always use exact match and take about 30%-40% of that number. Remember even if you have the #1 listing your only going to get 45% of the click according to the leaked AOL data. It's always better to be conservative, that way if you exceed your expectations your happy.
