    Hey guys.

I know people are concerned with learning how to/the possibility of jumping over Google Places listings.
But my inquiry is this--is it possible for a GP listing to rank where there is currently only organic results? I would assume it's possible as I've seen this in blended listings, where there is only 1 GP listing and the rest are organic results. I'm also assuming it's the backlinks that will help in these cases, but I just don't know how much.

So I guess to put it most concisely--If I have a Google Places listing with an authoritative website listed with it, and it has the proper optimization for the targeted keyword in the listing, plus a good amount of citations, will that be enough to outrank the organic listings? Is that possible?
The keywords that are targeted have very low comp. #1 is a yellowpages listing; PR 1 but no backlinks to page and no keyword matching in the title, tags, etc.

I'm a newbie, so any insight would be greatly greatly appreciated here :) If this is in the wrong spot plz let me know. this is my 1st post! :D

You should be able to trigger a one box (or who knows... you might trigger more) as long as the search term actually is approved for GP. Check other cities and see if there are GP listed... if so, you should be ok... if not, maybe there simply is no GP approved.

I second what the other poster said about the keyword being GP-Approved. Keep in mind that certain business types, such as web design companies and SEO companies cannot trigger a box, as Google has decided these are not really "local" businesses. Also, it helps if your business is actually located in the city that you're trying to optimize for.
