I was interested in ranking for keywords with like 500 searches a month, my keyword has a bunch of these that have low searches but just a lot of them added together get a good amount of traffic. Almost everyone of these keywords is not being targeted of coarse, so my question is do you think I could just rank these keywords with images? Like a gallery with alt tags for every keyword Im targeting?

You can try and tell us the results of your case study. I believe no one can tell you if you can do it without knowing every details. So what I say...

I don't know about the alt attribute but I got an image ranking in image search for its name.

My hope was to not have to create content for such low search terms, some of the search results are like 400 a month total. But combine that with 3-4 of those terms it's quite worth it.

I figured simply mentioning the keyword and having relevant content on the site would be enough to rank it the keywords.
