    Hey guys,

I have a problem that a website dropped from place 2 to page 5 on google.com if your useragent is en-US. It's a bit strange why it only happens there but I found something what could made the problem.

A While ago I changed my PHP version for another project and this broke a function. Had 800 soft 404 errors, 30 501 errors and 130 404 errors. Already fixed nearly all but could this be somehow the reason for such a strange penalty?

    Anyone had experience with that?

If you gave GoogleBot 501 errors then that will have the effect of temporarily delisting your pages. Then when your pages come back they will be at lower rankings for a couple weeks until they return to normal. This is how the "GoogleBot Interruption Attack" works in negative SEO. but in your case it may have been self inflicted. 404s take a long time to hurt you in the rankings. Google assumes those are mistakes for a long time.

I recommend making sure your canonical URLs are all set properly. Make sure your navigation and sitemaps all use the same URL as the canonicals. Then resubmit your sitemaps to get Google to reprocess sooner than later.
