    Hi there,

A client of mine had superb ranking domain. There is only an html document with content about the keyword. It is very old and ranking superb for multiple longtails. This site contains one link to an ecommerce and sent good amounts of traffic.

Now his workers thought it was good idea to push a wordpress blog on this domain.

I can see their intentions, with quality regular published content it could rank for even more keywords, but it is always a big risk to change a winning horse.

What do you suggest? A quick switchback to the old content, or once changed, live with it and develop it further.

    Thanks for your opinions!

Keep it the same or you will sabotage everything.

I disagree with this. Changing content is always a risk, but adding quality content to pre-existing quality content is rarely a bad thing, especially consider how thin this site sounds if it is just one page? Adding a blog and posting additional quality pages sounds like a great idea to not impact on the current rankings, while future-proofing it.

    What I would do...

Create a new WP site, but keep the current content on the new site.

I personally would develop it further since it sounds like this domain has good potential.
