One my clients wants to rank all his 3 domains (same + similar name wtih different TLD) on 1st page due to he don't want any other competitors to get on page 1.

My plan is all domains should have different nameserver/registrar/hosting.
But backlink network to these 3 domains should be different, right? Otherwise it look like a big footprint?

What are your suggestions? Should i tell him NO?

Different names, registrar, and hosting is a good idea.

In regards to the backlinks I'd say to get different links from different domains but in the same niche. I'm not sure what type of links you build but just go for each site with a different strategy and a few similarities shouldn't be too bad as long as it doesn't seem obvious.

An example would be to not have the same name linking to each site (if making comments).

I'd recommend focusing on just the 1 domain plus social properties plus citations. They could easily take quite a few first page positions if done correctly.

That's the way I do for my local business. I target top 3 positions for all 3 different site on the same KW. As my business is B2B, I'd rather my leads get 3 quotations from me for price comparison than being 1 of the 3 quotations.

Which mean, you are doing different backlinks to these 3 domains?
Like different Referring Domains to these 3 domains.

That's right. I'd never use the same PBN for 2 domains.

Make sure you keep them well separated and set no footprints or you won't be able to get more than 1 on the first page. Google only lists 2 pages from first site if they don't have other options. Only booking.com, expedia, amazon and others get to list 20 listings on a 10 item page, because they $$$$$$$$$$$$$

They are 3 different domain names, so, no need for different hosting and ip's. No body care!

U need to change the content, and build backlinks.

Yeah, I know. Google ranks content not domains. No one ever said different tlds is considered as one, and more important, if they were, then not because the hosting or ip, vut cuz of the names

Monopolizing the SERPs is certainly attractive, but I have seen quite a few "greed eats brain" cases. Competitors aren't necessarily idiots and if the domain name is the same with different TLDs, plus the content, design, logo are a little similar, expect a flood of spam reports. Google will react to these reports. I don't say it can't be done without getting noticed, but it requires far more than just different PBNs and different nameserver/registrar/hosting. For local businesses it's even more risky since you have to publish an adress/map/phone number, a footprint you can't hide from human eyes.
