    Interesting question Erichon,

You can achieve a decent or even high page rank with this type of site as Page rank is determined by sites linking to yours. It may be difficult getting good positioning in SERP's with little to no text on your pages. Search engines index text and follow links to find more text. If you have little or no text on your pages, I can't see this website doing very well. You can build your own backlinks however it may be difficult to get natural backlinks if you don't have that much text based content.

This page might be of some use though, it talks about ranking pages that have videos only,

    Hope that answers your question,

Great post with an awesome, informative link, TheContentAuthority. That link pretty much shows how to rank a video that's on YT in the Google SERPs though, so as far as ranking a website with just videos on it goes, I think we can all agree that it's pretty much impossible in most circumstances.

Yes, it is possible but very hard to do. I have a niche search engine which only has one paragraph of text on the homepage and it is ranking very well for a competitive term, however I build some seriously high quality backlinks to the site.

On page seo is a huge factor in SEO.

It is possible, but you're definitely not getting the most out of your off-site SEO if you don't use text. I'd suggest using effectively <head> tags that target your keywords.

If possible, add <h1> or <h2> tags.

It's amazing how people can manipulate the current algorithm despite it's "intense crackdowns". I just did some research on a product I'm promoting and the guy is ranking a site with a huge image block instead of a text block somehow. A further in-depth analysis of his backlinks proves what aakon7 said above: lack of on-site optimization can be drowned out with a crap load of high quality backlinks.

I see that my original theory was incorrect!

Good to know! I'm sure someone out there will evolve what Google can read about our pages and sites...

Yes.. you can make it possible but little bit harder.. Most of SEOs thinking, text is only the content. In fact, images and videos are also the contents.. But I accept contextual link is better than image links. you can update your site by creative images which will impress end users and make them to share.. And get some natural back links from more related sites.. I think its enough..
