I am launching a new business and was wondering has anyone had success ranking a new tld with SEO?

    I have:

    my main keyword . rentals

and a more obscure abbreviated version of the keyword with .com

Ideally, I would like to use the new TLD as it looks better and essentially tells the user what we do.
Due to the competition of the niche, its pretty impossible to get a .com like that.

How difficult is it to rank one of these new domains?

    Any input is appreciated.

Why did they roll it out if it can't be rank or you think the domain registry don't have a
damn clue of what they are doing?

Getting pissed off with all these myth.

I was recently been thinking about this issue. I don't know why but whenever I search for something in Google or even Bing or Yahoo, I never see any site except .com, net or .org, rarely some .infos. But I don't understand why those new TLDs never show up like the ones with .club, .travel, .recipe etc.

Also, it came to my mind, Google might make some changes in future which will totally change the search engine war and the update will make sure when you search for a travel related information, only the .travel domains will show up on first page, or when you search for a recipe, the .recipe sites will show up on the first page. I thought this is the reason why they are releasing those new TLDs and this will clearly change everything. Right now we are fighting over the .com, .net and orgs (sometimes .infos) to grab the aged domains, the high pr domains, high pa/da domains and building shit load of quality or bulk link to rank on the top. So the scenario is, the more money you have, the more aged domain you can buy, the more high PR links you can build and become the king of the certain niche. But with the above mentioned changes, it will really provide a wide range of domains for the webmasters to fight for and make the best out of it. Otherwise, these are just useless "show-off" domains with catchy extensions, why would somebody buy them if they don't rank?
