So this is kind of a brag and a can I get some tips thread all in one.

Just so it's really clear. I have some basic understanding of SEO, but other than one escort site that I use to own, I have never tried to rank a site. The escort site took me 1 year to start ranking on page 1 for 5 different keyword phases. I should have probably keep it, but I just let the domain run out.

I have a client who owns a restaurant here in Tucson. I did their full website and finished it right about a month ago. So far we have about 20-30 keywords for the site, but really only trying to target 13 as those are the most specific for his restaurant and will generate the most interest in finding new patrons.

They had a old website that was already listed in GP and several other local directories. So I have been spending sometime and getting all of those changed to point to the new site.

Started looking in Google Webmaster Tools and saw they are starting to rank for some now targeted keywords, but they where helping get some clicks to the site.

Then I checked out the site and realized, I hadn't set up any meta tags for keywords or descriptions. Could be why I was only ranking on page 1 spot 10 for 2 of the targeted keywords on Bing and Yahoo and nothing on google. So I uploaded Platinum SEO plugin and spent a few hours setting up local optimized pages titles, descriptions, and keywords for each page.

Just checked SERP's and now on page 1 spot 5 in Bing and Yahoo for that one keyword and page 2 in Google. It shouldn't be a really hard keyword to get #1 for, but I was happy to go from nothing to #18 out of 4.1 million pages.

Now what? I have done zero backlinking to this site. I will do it, but waiting a little bit just to see how far on site SEO will get me. I plan on ordering a few link pushes from linkpushing.net as I have read nothing but positive reviews and results for them. Will be using those on some of the higher difficulty keywords. Is there any advice or tips anyone can give other then backlinks?

Bad idea to wait! What you are doing with just on site SEO, is like having a really nice clean city optimized for living, but without any roads pointing into it!

    GET to LINKING!!! :)

DO NOT use meta keywords tag. The first thing you should do is buy(make) some .edu/.gov backlinks and get them indexed, next high PR backlinks, linkpushing and start reading the forum daily :p

Yep! Pretty much some more solid advise! Might want to do some Web 2.0's as well.

I hope your site pays off friend! :)

By waiting, I meant like a week. Just to let all the seo changes on the pages to be crawled.

.edu/.gov links seem more blackhat, as I have done them with some of my other sites, but this is a full white hat site for a client. I do not want to risk anything with their site. That's why I think the linkpushing will really work good since they articles can be reviews about the business and actually be genuine.

With the linkpushing, they include web 2.0's so I will have them covered.

Well, I have already been paid for what putting the site together. All I am doing now is free bonus work for the client more so that I can show this to perspective clients as a "This is what I can do for you" type thing.

A flawed reasoning mate, just link and the changes will be indexed instantly.

In SEO waiting is never a good thing, just link link link and you will be good 2 go! ;)

(don't fear BH either, it can't hurt you, it just falls off fast)

.edu/.gov backlinks give your site Authority and they will really improve your rankins once you get them indexed. Trust me you dont have to worry about getting banned or anything like that because you use .edu/.gov backlinks.

I guess I will give it a shot. I have about 10-15 sites I use to use for fiverr gigs, so worth checking to see if they still work and using them.
