I have a .org website ranking for a certain KW. This KW is the same for US and India, the keyword has 2.200.000 global searches. Us local monthly searches: 220.000, India local monthly searches: 670.000. Still the traffic on my website is 40% from US, and only 4% from India. Funny thing that i need to get the most traffic from India. The traffic is 99% from google.

How do i do this? What is that i need to do to get more traffic from India? Do i need to buy a .in domain and host the website on an Indian host? I am completely lost.

    Hi,

I wouldn't suggest you to rebrand your website, from what you've said above. From what you've given me to work with, it's clear that the keyword you're referring to isn't going to provide more traffic from India - though depending on your position in SERP's, it could begin to receive more traffic "as is."

As for India traffic, you're going to have to target more keywords, those targeting a local area in india or india in general. I would recommend that you use schema.org to specify your target and create a google analytics and webmaster tools account and select INDIA as your target audience, making sure to submit your sitemap via your google webmaster tools account.

I also strongly suggest for you to create a blog. In this blog, you'll need to create some nice content, focused solely on INDIA and some towns in India. Make the site an INDIA related site. It's also WISE to research some of the major players, receiving INDIA related traffic. Get a good idea of what the competition is doing, and apply it to your own INDIA related SEO campaign. The website content is going to play a major role though, and so is latent semantic indexing or india related content.

    hope this helps

I am not rebranding my site, not even use it anymore because it is penalized by google. It kinda have warez content and it's easy to build it again. The average revenues/visit from US are lower than the revenues from India, that is why i am targeting India. And the fact that for India the local searches are three times higher than US's.

So i am building again my website, but now i am targeting India visitors.

The best way to be ranked in google India is to use Google Websmaster tool and located your website in "India"...
