Rank without any keyword placement on the site

    Saw a few sites rank page 1 without the "keyword" on the site. Is it because of anchor text?

    PS:just to make sure

    Hidden pages with articles, links.

    It all there , just not showing , the title of the website should give you a idea of there intensions.

    yes can happen. If your backlinks are strong and link to you with the anchor text then you can rank. Ever saw domains ranking without any keyword mentions? Also as the above guy said maybe the keyword is a synonym for another keyword or something.

    Yes, this is usually because of anchor texts. You can even buy expired domains that will still rank for certain KWs based on their anchor texts without using the KW on your 'new' site.
