    What's up BHW,
I thought I need some motivation to carry on this journey, and to hold myself accountable for my actions so I decided to create a journey thread outlining one of my recent ventures to see how far I can take this.

    Little backstory:
I've been in the digital marketing game for over 5 years but I took an interest in rank and rent/lead generation around 2016 when I saw case studies of people ranking their local websites and renting it out to business owners. To me, that was INSANE. It's like owning a property and renting it out for $500 per month, except it doesn't cost you $200k to build the house and swallows you dry with high interest mortgages.

I've had experience working with agencies as an SEO executive earning around $30k per year and I hated every minute of it. It was mind numbing and I'm happy I quit it. I started a few agencies of my own and they really took off. I don't necessarily sell SEO like every other agency but I move on to more specialised industries, and tailor packages to their needs with video marketing etc.

    My Rank & Rent journey

To cut a long story short, I have more than enough time and money on my hands to test new ventures and keep my monkey brain occupied.

Around January/February, I bought a domain for an unusual niche with the idea of creating a local website which I would rent out to people in that industry. The niche was entirely random, and didn't consist of your usual lawyer, dentist, roofing or any other local SEO idea that people stumble upon.

It was something I legitimately came up with in the shower and decided to research more into it. Surprisingly, there was a lot of demand for this service so I did some keyword research and found 50+ keywords to rank, majority of which are city localised.

I built out the website, and hired content writers to fill out my site and I now have over 20k words for the website, and have build 50 pages for each city I want to rank for.

It was around May time I gave up the journey because I had other business to attend to so I put it on halt. It wasn't until I sparked up another idea based on the website I just made, which was to create a hybrid website.

In essence, it would make my website which I just made a local SEO + affiliate niche website. It seemed weird at the time but I decided to go ahead, because why the hell not! I researched into the service provided and found some affiliate programs but they seemed fishy so I decided against them.

It wasn't until I read @William702 threads about Fiverr affiliate, that I took interest. Fiverr has certain services on their website which would accommodate a local SEO website like mine. I signed up around June and built out some content for the affiliate links, as well as add links to already existing pages.

Around a month or 2 later, to present day, some keywords are really starting to kick off. The local city keywords are slowly ranking but the affiliate keywords have really taken off and now I am making enough to finally consider starting a journey thread and increasing the profits.

This month alone on Fiverr affiliates, I have made around $105.00. Proof below.

I will update this thread when I make major changes to my website, and will update on earnings for my local SEO website.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask below and I'll try answer them as often as I can.

Thanks for reading and hope you enjoy my journey :)

Thanks man, I've found a ton of ideas to implement with this site and hopefully it takes off. It'd make for a killer case study.

    Thanks guys.

    UPDATE:
Ordered 20 pieces of content at 1,000 words each for $250. The keywords for these articles are all affiliate based because I want to spend time on exploiting this as it seems to be generating a nice amount of money.

    Earnings to date:

From the beginning of July to now, this is how much I have made from Fiverr affiliates for my local SEO website.

    Current earnings: $775.00
    Current spending: $250 on content

    Current profits: $525.00

Ooh this is really cool. Using an affiliate program instead of the hard sell of rank and rent is interesting and will definitely be following this. Best of luck!

Thanks man, and no I'm not.

Rank and rent works and is probably my personal recommendation for those doing SEO for clients. It's a lot easier to do and you can find clients who want to rent out your site for $x,xxx per month. Even if you only rent out a few pages of your website, it's still a nice amount coming in.

Yep, it's a hybrid. I want to still rent out the local pages and maybe in a month, I will start contacting the local services and see who's interested in renting out these pages. I currently have 1 interested from 2 months ago and they want to pay $350 per month to rent out a page that is getting visitors.

I may take them up on it but I feel I can squeeze more out of that sale so I'll wait until I generate more traffic.

Only for first time purchases unfortunately, yeah. However, like Amazon Affiliate, they pay based on what's purchased.

For example, my weird niche would get $15 commission from Fiverr affiliates when I bring in a buyer however, I've had cases where the buyers would purchase something that's not related to my niche like a Whiteboard animation video and I would get $50 commission for that FTB.

Great story OP good luck, I've just started to publish some rank and rent sites, so its interesting to see how others have monetized theirs. I may have a look st some obscure local service niches too and see what I can find

Go for it man, The niche I'm in right now, you wouldn't even think of it as a local SEO niche, but it is and it's actually generating profits.
