    Hey guys.

I have an affiliated website I have been working on for a couple of months and had been getting little traffic (5-6 pr day) and over the past months made a few conversions but way to little when I look at the traffic coming in. So, after getting very helpful copywriting tips I decided a change was needed, so I changed the content of the site to make it convert more. I deleted a few pages and made the content more direct?

    BUT
After making these changes I no longer get any hits?no visitors at all for a week!! And the weird thing is I currently rank nr. 2 on google for my main keyword! This fact alone should get me at least 200 visitors pr month.
Actually thats weird also because when I look it up in various page rank checkers I seem to be ranking between 22-25 for my main keyword?but just putting the keyword in Google blatantly shows me coming up nr. 2.

I just do not know whats going on?any help would be much appreciated :(

    Cheers!

    David

Try Putting your keyword in google Chrome Incognito mode.

Ranking also differs from GEO locations. but 2 and 25 is a big difference and is wierd.

And as you said you are not recieving traffic then i thiink you are actualling ranking between 22-25 as you said.

Ranking depends on geo location. Try checking your ranking for different Google geo specific sites using some tools to create a report of your ranking.

Any time you are signed into google it will skew your rankings because it will show your results based on your gmail account history.

In other words Google has seen you go to that site so much it thinks that is what you are searching for when you look.

Sign out of google, and search then.

Check which page is ranking no.2 maybe you deleted that one and google still has it in index and your visitors get nowhere?

Sorry about the font, I´m new here and had no idea.

Anyway, you were right with the Google track rank. If I looked it up in chrome incognito I was on page 3 for my main keyword.

There is still the issue of absolutely no visitors. Although only being on page 3 I did get around 4-5 visitors pr day. After the changes on my site I get none, zero, nada!

If anyone can help me with that issue I would be grateful.

Thanks for all the help so far :)

    Regards.

Regular articles and an SEO campaign would be a good start. You're not going to get many visitors until you hit page 1, and even then you need to be in the top 3 at least...

Can you go back to your old site, like a back up or something, you should never change content when you rank, only add to it

Search with Google keyword tool how many searches your keywords got monthly from Google. If not, find new keywords Ideas and use good keywords with good monthly searches and cpc, good luck.

Maybe you forgot to install analytics if you see absolutely 0 visitors after the redesign.

Either way, install google webmaster tool, they tell you what your average ranking is for the most searched for keywords, and that takes into account all fluctuations that may show you between 2 and 25 - although those are quite drastic fluctuations.

You didn't change the content of your actual existing posts, did you?
If yes, that's why you screw the rankings.

First you should log out of your gmail account (if you are logged in while seeing it)
or you can try firefox with Private window.

Second, you just need to make sure, your Keyword research was good or not? You can end up having few visitors if there are not enough searches for your keywords.

I am having the same weird results as OP, a few of my keywords on moz show sometimes 20 or 15. Then when i input them into google myself they show up as rank 2-10 on first page. I have also made sure i'm not signed into google when search and i have searched from multiple different ip locations, i.e computer at work, computer at home, computer at friends. The only only different is when i search at each place each one has a different rank. Only thing is i have been seeing this for at least 2 weeks now. Not sure why moz says one thing then google shows another

You cannot get accurate rankings when checking from your home computer, it does look like you do not rank on the first page at all.

Try to clear all the cookies and sign out from gmail etc. Or try a online rank checker?
