Around 6 months ago I set up a small niche site focusing on a kw which receives 3000 searches a month. Inanchor:"keyword" showed just over 3000 results, keyword difficulty was judged as 34 by kWfinder.

At the time I didn't do much with site, but a couple of months later I wanted to test what I could do with Spam links. To that end I fired 40,000 gsa links from a fiverr gig at the site matching on the kw and related longtails. I then forgot about the site for another couple of months, focusing on other projects.

I revisited the site a couple of months ago and found I was ranking in Google in the 80's for some keywords, but was sitting at position 1 in bing/yahoo for the main keyword and longtails. Out ranking the real brand site.
This was a surprise, so I created some amazon affiliate links and added adsense. It's now consistently earning between $1 and ~$8 a day.

This has piqued my interest, was it the spam links or edm that caused this? What else could I rank in Bing with an Edm and spam?

To that end, I've started another project:
20,000 searches a month in bing
    Inanchor:"keyword" around 600
    Difficulty around 28
It's a brand keyword but fairly new.

    Done:
    Edm bought
2000 words written by me published
    Indexed in Google and Bing
40,000 links sent to URL shorteners. 40% keyword, 40% generic, 20% domain.

Before even sending links it's sitting at rank 13 in yahoo but not in bing.

Two weeks in and no change on bing/yahoo, Google is jumping around allot.

I'll give it a month then I might try some dirt cheap PBN links, see what that does. If no results after another month, I'll try spam links directly at the website as this worked previously.

Hmm, I can rank on Google and not on Bing or Yahoo at all.

Good luck in your journey, EMD still plays a big influence in Bing/Yahoo.

Congrats on your success. Just a word of warning, outranking sites is obviously great, but hopefully you're not impersonating the brand that you're outranking. You could lose your Amazon account or website. You didn't provide enough information to determine if that's the case, I just wanted to put some caution out there (based on the quoted part of your post) just in case. Obviously, if you're not using their trademarks or passing yourself off as affiliated with them, then you're probably completely fine. Once again, congrats and enjoy the revenue. :)

Ahh Bing. The forgotten man's search engine.

Ranking in Bing is not as hard as ranking in G. In fact, it is incedibly easy.

I have an EMD with 34 backlinks and it's #2 on Bing for the keyword, right up under a well known brand name. Search volume was 26,000 a month last time I looked. It's in the food niche.

I have done fuck all with it for two years. It's still there.

I know a lot of people think G is the search engine for everything but it's not. My site is a blog and every time I log on I'm answering comments and questions left by readers. Engagement is excellent.

I have no ads up and the site isn't monetized in any way. It's purely informational.

Indeed, volume is perhaps not as much as Google, but Bing/Yahoo have 30% of the market now? Engagement seems to be pretty high, perhaps that's partly due to demographic. If it's possible to create an EMD, post a few thousand words, rank for peanuts using exact keyword anchors, and then receive 30% of the volume I would for Google... then why the hell not? Seems daft to turn your nose up at the volume when I could easily knock out 10 such sites in a week and fingers crossed easily rank.

So the original domain and the new domain are not trying to impersonate the brand. They are all review content related.

The whole project is more of an experiment rather than a serious attempt at making money.

Completely unrelated, I've just past my first £1500 month for IM passive income. It's taken over a year to get here, but I'm pretty chuffed. It pays for my sons nursery, car costs and leaves a bit left behind. I still need to work full time in Cyber Security, but I love my job anyway :)

Meanwhile G will continue not using lube.

I told a friend I was on the first page of Bing for an exact match keyword. He said "Fuck Bing. Nobody cares about it. G is all that matters."

I rolled my eyes hard enough to strain them.

Thinking like this is why we have people bitching every time G has an update. You claim it's a monopoly and they're unfair, blah blah blah but you don't want to use the alternatives.

Pages are 30-50 in google ?
    I rank 1-5 in bing.de

Still I get no ego kick from it cause 100 visitors more don't make a cut ..

    But 300 would?

I'm not saying ranking in Bing is better than Google.
I'm trying an experiment to gauge the viability of ranking a reasonable volume kw in bing.

There's a lot of difference between position 5 vs 1, no matter the search engine.

Site continues to be at position 13 in Yahoo for the main keyword and nonexistent I'm Bing.
I believe, possibly incorrectly, that Bing takes a while to assign rank updates based on backlinks.
I'm off on Holiday after today for two weeks, so I'll revise my rankings and strategy once I'm back.
