So me and my team were recently working on a site targeting keywords with a total of about 5000 monthly searches. Super low competition, $400 to $800 products. The main keyword for the site was 2400 monthly searches with literally no competition, and I approved it initially. It turned out that the product wasn't available on Amazon and that's why it was such low competition. This is a "review" keyword. However, we decided to turn this around and use this traffic to push other related products. That page is now sitting on #16 with only a couple hundred words of content. Once we get to page 1 we will use comparison charts to turn this traffic around - they're interested in buying this product, only thing is, it's nowhere to be found on Amazon. So, we'll turn this around and push other products in the same price range. Just some food for thought. You might want to look into this kind of traffic and use it, since competition for these keywords is usually ridiculously low since no one bothers to rank for them if the products aren't there. This would work with any product not available on Amazon that has enough monthly searches to justify making a site for it in order to push other products and get that sweet sweet commission.
