In your opinion as an experienced, successful SEO, which type(s) of backlinks are the best and look the most authentic to Google right now in 2014? This thread is partly for my own benefit but I'd also like to see some senior members get it on this to share some knowledge if you could spare a minute to leave a reply. 10K is a significant amount of money for many of you guys at this point, and certainly isn't chump change for me either, but I think larger projects should be talked about a little more.

Anyway enough of the bullshit. I am almost done building a big website which is very high quality and will be competing in a very high competition niche. It is targeted at one specific country, and it is not the US.

I have 10K to spend on my initial link building which I plan to spread over at least a couple of months, probably more. The idea here is quality not quantity and I want to know where you guys think my money should go as far as the types of links I buy. I'm thinking about buying sponsored posts from authority blogs because there's lots of them in this niche, but Matt Cutts says he doesn't like how spammy guest posts are now so it makes me nervous to dump 10K in that direction without some advice.

I'd be happy to keep this thread updated with my ranking progress and mention the types of links I'm buying so everybody can benefit here. Any input is greatly appreciated, thanks.

What you need is a whitehat link building service because I'm sure you wouldn't want to spend $10K on a site only to lose it during the next algorithm update.

Does whitehat link building even exist? As per G any link building with intention to game serps is against their tos.

Looking forward to your ranking progress updates OP

I believe guest posts and web 2.0's with good quality content will always help you rank.

Agreed, which is what makes it so hard to choose a strategy with a serious long term project. I have to build links somewhere but they're all technically fabricated links and against G's rules, so I want to buy high quality links that can't be proven to be fabricated.

You mean here on BHW? With all due respect, I won't be buying links from here. Sellers here get too much exposure from the wrong people. This is my opinion only.

Yes I thought of this too, but to look legit all the blogs would need to stay up to date and that would be a lot of work. From my experience automated blogs end up getting fucked at one point or another. Running my own PBN for the long term would probably be too risky anyway cause to do it properly I imagine you'd need to have some experience doing that kind of thing, which I don't.

PBN's seem to be the wave of the next generation, I agree sometimes the marketplace can attract the wrong crowd, I've seen sites get banned for going to heavy with certain blackhat links. I'd like to hear the experts chime in and get their opinion. Good luck and keep us posted with your results.

Quality depends on the perpective and with $10k to spend I'd pay someone for a decent infographics, get a good writer ready and start a outreach campaign (content + infographics + "compensation" if asked for) to get me some real quality links noone can buy on a public marketplace. That's the kind of links you generate via an old fashioned email client, without any SEO tools. Offer some solid value (content), cool and unique (infographics) + money and you'd be surprised how many authority site owners will like your bait. Just an example, but I'd go for quality over quantity.

Own PBN would be an option, too, but for just one site the approach is pretty risky.

Def. recommend against the links here for a project this serious. Honestly it sounds like you should do legit SEO, like what Neil Patel teaches at Quick Sprout. Heavy outreach to major industry players, press releases, infographics and software tools to get links. Anything anyone on this forum teaches is going to subject you to getting penalized.

If I had an extra 10k to spend on the business, I would become an advertiser at linkshare. That's how much it used to cost. Don't know if it's the same price now. That's my dream. Some day.
