My wife and I are moving to a new city for her job. I just sold my small vacation rental management business and will be using some of the money ($10k) to start a new career in IM. I have always loved the idea of working from home or anywhere in the world. I have read several E-Books about niche site building and adsense earning and I find it all very fascinating. My real question is, am I an idiot to put this much time and money into something like IM? I built the website for my previous business and drove traffic to it using Facebook mostly and saw some success. This will literally be my full time job after we move into our new place, I will dedicate a minimum of 40 hours per week on building sites and IM alone. I am reading posts about Clickbank now and think that may actually be my first step. Any help or a basis of where I should start would be greatly appreciated.
Well, honestly, I would never advise anyone to quit a job with a stable income to pursue IM where income may be obsolete for a while. So, I'd normally recommend that you build some substantial and consistent income with IM before quitting your job but is sounds like you already have. So, as of now, you're need to look in to one of two areas and that's: 1. Investing your funds in to an already functionable/profitable business/website (i.e. Flippa For Example - Do your Due Diligence!). 2. Invest in to starting your own business again. To answer your question, you are by far no "idiot" for investing a lot of time/money in to IM, it's quite the contrary because there's tons of potential in IM. Just be sure you invest properly and that you understand what you're doing, as this is money you need to live on, you can't afford to make mistakes as these could lead to you losing funds so just be sure to self educate yourself on whatever you do.
Thank you! Forgot to mention that I watch Flippa religiously, but I have read too many bad stories on here so I have yet to pull the trigger.
You just need to be careful, do your research and due diligence and make smart investments. When it comes to Flippa, you just need to check all aspects of each site/auction to make sure everything checks out. One thing I see particularly a lot of on Flippa is a lot of buyers bidding on sites with just relying on a PayPal screen shot of the "supposed" earnings. This is probably the most prominent of scams on Flippa. Sellers listing "service" based sites on Flippa, showing fake income screen shots and then selling the site(s) for $x,xxx. Just be careful and don't buy on impulse, check everything over, make sure the claims of the seller add up. If you're looking to make a large investment in to a site, seek a second opinion from a professional (Search around) so you don't take the chance of being ripped off or scammed.
Well since you have the money you can create a website and just buy some SEO services and your set to go.
I do not think you are an idiot. However, since it looks like your experience is limited, you might want to pick up a part-time job just to have some extra cash on hand.
That's due to a lack of motivation. Most will hit a road bump and will give up. Remember: Success is bouncing from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm. No matter what your journey is, stick to it and don't give up.
Not an idiot at all you just gotta research about some niches find some things you enjoy and go for it!
Follow your dreams. Even if you don't succeed on your first try, you will eventually succeed later on. So my advice to you is to stick to your plans and work on it no matter. Good luck.
Yes I agree with Systematic & Mindanao. But one thing for sure if you give time and your sincere efforts you'll get success. All The Best
IM is like any business venture. Work hard and it will pay dividends, kick back expecting a small amount of marketing to make you wealthy... forget it!
I could never hold a 9-5 job it just drove me insane. If you can handle that and keep it in your mind that you don't want to go back to that I'm sure you can succeed. Don't slack off and most importantly TAKE ACTION. You said you've read a few e-books and whatnot and that's great but experience is the most important aspect. Trial and error is essential and as long as you stay persistent there's no reason you can't make it in IM. Are you an i d i o t? Only if you let yourself fail.
I'd say go for it! You'll regret it later if you don't try, but work hard and be consistent if you want to reach success. Good luck!
Why not take your Vacation rental business online? There are many online vacation rental service providers. Just do a research on their online business model and try to duplicate their business. This would be a good start since you already have good knowledge in that Niche.
With a budget like that you should first read, know what waters you get in. I'd recommend PPV and paid traffic with your budget since SEO is way too unstable for begginers and takes way too long to see results, which you might not want I'm guessing. If you have some marketing experience then PPV/paid traffic with affiliate marketing is way to go. I can give you a wonderful thread if you PM(it's on another forum) me which will motivate you to work hard and it has some really good information in it. It's not a step by step process, but it's good nonetheless.
That in fact is a great piece of advice by cyberzilla. I had to quit my job due to a few circumstances and am unable to go back; and as days pass you dont have finances which will be a point of frustration. Stick with your niche and use services related to your niche.
