use an API that follows automatically a specific amout (I reccomend no more than 300/day)
of twitter-users (targeted in your niche/untargeted).

After a while you can decide wheater or not to unfollow those who don´t follow you
(again: don´t exaggerate, don´t unfollow to many!).
Should wait a while (some days) between following & unfollowing, otherwise it´s quite obvious for twitter.

I also take care to get listed in a lot of lists, which ensures me some more followers
(the more your account is listed, the more followers you get!).

As you haven´t mentioned yet, wheater your target is to get LOTS of followers, or LOTS of targeted followers
I could also recommend you to simply just follow those twitter users that are known to be following back. Just
keep your eyes open for those "follow back lists" of other users, and add all of them.

By this method you´ll get high amounts of them to follow you back, but meanwhile you are following approximately
the same amout (or even more) of people, so it depends on your targets.

Hey yohanns23, 80 followers in 3 days is ~okay~. If you are new to twitter it´s cool and a success, but others would laugh at that fact ;-), but you should see it as a success, especially when you are new to that area! Here is one of those lists i mentioned. It has just 80 people listed, but most of them seem to follow back, if its correct what the twitter user says (just replace the xx with tt).

    Code:
    hxxp://twitter.com/cornyman/top500-follow-all-back
And its good that you don´t exaggerate it. Important if you want to keep your account!

For about 1000 followers you would get approximately $2-8 (if targeted followers or not!). Remember, some people sell thousands of those accounts. Have a look in this threat here (someone sells 1000 accounts for $80, but they are cust costumized, without followers I think.):

    Code:
    http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/social-networking-sites/173702-looking-buy-twitter-accounts.html
--> so rather keep that one account to advertise. Seeling accounts gets only usefull if you are able to create thousands of them.

The quickest way is to just use trains. Of course they're following you for the same reason you're following them though, so really no point in it unless you just want to build friends and sell the account.

That sounds interesting! But how do you let your potencial followers know that you give something of value away? Do you shout that out and hope that others might chatch that, or do you advertise for this freebies on you blog/homepage..? But that sounds really interesting, good point.

I own one of those white hat "Buy twitter followers" Sites. Your best bet is to buy some software for following. i recommend using Tweet Attack they have it in the Sale section on the forum. I never follow more then 300-325 people a day tops and another thing to remember is when you reach 2k followers you can only follow %10 more people than are following you. See Twitter TERMS if you are planing on trying to start a twitter follow business.

If your short on cash another way to do some mass twitter work is install grease monkey on Firefox and go to user scripts, there you will find scripts for mass follow buttons and scripts that will high light users that you are following and are not following you. (Keep in mind that these are scripts so keep track of how many people you are using these to follow so you don't get the accounts ban) But all and all software is the way to go cause that's how you get the good target features.

If this is going to be a business venture of your, Be very organized because dealing with a lot of people business Twitter account and the following numbers can be hard to keep track of till you get a system rolling.

    Hope this helped.

So you have to increase your followers in order to increase the amount of people you can follow[once 2k is reached]?

After reaching 2000 followers (not exactly 2000, 1820 I think), your overall following limit will be Number of your followers + 10% of it.

But the daily limit still applies.

I've been reading the TOS and trying to understand it (and the various parts of it) and I've come to this conclusion:

    • On a fresh account, don't follow more than ~200 people in the first few days.
    • On a fresh account, make regular posts. Nothing all to interesting and try to avoid lots of @reply stuff
    • Once the account is aged, you can follow UP TO 1000 people a day. On my two white hat accounts, when I'm bored, I follow around 500-600 on each account.
    • For added followers:
      • keep posting keywords as tweets
      • post something like "Great poeple: @person1 @person2 @person3 @person4......" be creative with this one
      • Post random quotes at random intervals, so a scheduling service is the best for this (or use a software and keep it running 24/7)
    • DO NOT POST too much too past.
      • I've hit the daily limit of followers AND tweets on my main white hat account several times, no worries. It's still active, BECAUSE it is a 'real' account with real tweets with real conversations. (best tip to create fake accounts is to use it as a real one)
      • For a fresh account, create it post very little and let it sit for a minimum of 3-5 days. I let them sit for about a week before I post anything.
    Ectect...

So your saying if I have 15k followers I could find and add 15k plus 1500(10%) a total of 16500 per day ?

NO! In this situation you could follow a total of 16500 people on twitter until you get the message that you can´t follow anyone anymore at the moment. It doesn´t matter if you follow 0001 or 17,000, you always have to obey the limit of 1000 people you can follow a day (but you also would risk a bann..).

@yohanns you are risking a bann if you follow 1000 people on a regular basis..., so if you follow 300 a day.. you´ll reach 1000 in about 4 days.

That will be your overall following limit but your daily limit will always be 1000.

Hey So If I Follow Like About 300-400 ppl a day .....can i do it every single day without worrying about the ratio of following to followers?

so if i follow 300 1st day , then i get about 50-60 followers and then
next day should i dump all the non followers and follow again or should i keep going till 1000?

It´s not advisable to follow X people on twitter and unfollow those that are not following you the next day... In my experiences I have discovered that most people will follow you back after 1-4 days (depends if they automatically follow you back, or do this manually).

So you could add 300 people on day number 1, 300 people on day number 2, 300 people on day number 3 = following 900 (no 2000-follower-restriction, yet!).
Then, if you wish, you could wait some days (work on another twitter account), and after those days you beginn to unfollow some of those that haven´t followed you, yet. (Keep beware of the daily limits not to get banned). After this procedure you can add again, and so on...

In one of my accounts I have unfollowed all those that didn´t followed my when I had about 1690 followers and was following about 1950.

Is 7 days thereafter to unfollow good enough?

Thanks yohanns23 for starting this thread, I am also learning just setting up twitter accounts, so long I always avoid twitter as I did not see any benefits, but now it has changed my mind.
