Hey guys, I'm looking to apply to a CPA network. I'm canadian and I saw on a sign up sheet for a CPA network 'Tax ID' or 'EIN'. Do I have to register one of those? And when I went to register EIN, do I first need a ITIN? Also one network gave me a W8ben to complete. So my question is which route is the fastest and is it absolutely nessesary to get a ITIN (They take a couple weeks I read...) Thanks!!!!

New IRS regs require a passport to get an ITIN.

    Just so you know.

Is it necessary to get one though. I want to get started right away. Don't want to wait super long. And someone told me when the CPA network asks for EIN/Tax ID SSN you can just skip it if your Canadian. is that true?

Depends on the rules of the network.

If the network does require an ein/ssn/ITIN then you can form a c corp and get it in one day. It will cost you a few hundred bucks though.
