Hello everyone.
Thanks to BHW i've been reading on backlinks and such.
If your site isn't that hot, and you post backlinks on yahoo answers and some other sites, wouldn't that make YOUR site rank go down?

No why would it? All sites have to start somewhere even if they arent that good.

So then for example, if my site is on the sixth page for the keyword i'm targeting,
if i spread links through yahoo and youtube, wouldn't those appear first in the search engine since those are higher rank than mine?
your answer was kind of vague

Mate,
Please read around before asking those types of questions.
The method i know of, i just embedding your videos with them

You could better post your links to directory's... Most of them have a special area for your website theme and also have a nice PR which will also increase your PR.
