quick question

If I want to register a domain and I need it to be aged and to keep its original registration date without paying for a domain at auctions.

I have to:
- backorder on an existing domain
- register a deleted domain
- register or backorder a domain on redemption period, pending delete or on hold

How do these things work ? Its the same with all registrars or each has its own policy ?

The process of getting lapsed names once they're "yours" is very similar with the various registrars. But the logistics of how to make them yours are quite complex.

On the subject of trying to win a backorder, there's a lot of options out there, and a lot of competition (and a lot of money being made). Most backorder attempts will fail.

Registering a deleted domain is easy as long as the name is actually in a deleted status. Just don't waste time if you see one you want, it will likely get snatched up if you don't nab it while it's available.

Snatching names out of redemption, pend del, or hold is trickier, but might pan out for a person. I find it too much work for a lazy sod like myself.

Since you want regsiter date remain the older register date, you need to buy straightly from the owner (in valid period) so domain status stays registered and owner just transfers his domain to your provider.

Register deleted domains will only record bought date, however they still have cached history of what their contents in the past.

so basically I have to purchase an already registered domain from his owner considering my purpose of keeping its original registration date

To keep the original create date, you have to reg the domain via some means (buy it from owner, purchase in aftermarket, catch a drop) where it doesn't actually fall back into the pool of names available for "new" registration.

But as was mentioned, records of nameservers, IP's, content etc. are cached from the original date of birth. Create Date is separate from that.

So if create date is very important to you, you have to get the name before it falls into an available for reg status.
