    1) I would use a dedicated server, so I can not help you.
    2) It all depends on how many threads you want to run. However SER is only a 32bit application and most likely it will never use more than 2gb ram. My server has 16gb ram and it always has 12gb unused, even when pushing SER to the limit. Look for a good cpu instead. Also you can expect to use around 10-50 mbps depending on your settings.

4gb RAM is more than enough, there should be some wrong settings you've made or so.
    What vps provider you use?

That's because SER is a 32bit application. I have got 16gb ram and I'm also getting out of memory errors if I crank up my threads. I always push my SER to the edge, and it never uses more than 2gb ram. There's nothing to do about it and the developer is not willing to make a 64bit version.

    Home Page:
My GSA never uses over 800mb of ram, and I'm running 800 threads at the moment - but it does use ALOT of CPU for that.

Go with Berman Hosting $28.99 Extra plan. That should be sufficient. Using it for past 1 year
