Hi, I am just wondering how long it takes to get your local website to the front page of google? For example, a keyword with Vancouver has much less results, and I find that the keywords I am interested in only have about 2,000 results at the most (that's using quotations around my keyword.. Without quotes there's over 500,000 results.). Would this be fairly easy to do? Or does it take lots of training to do this fast?

I am just starting SEO but I am a quick learner..

If you are curious, the keyword I am looking at is "restaurants vancouver". I don't know if this keyword would be too hard. Maybe "surrey vancouver", it has only 300,000 results.

It usually takes me about a week or two to get top 10 listing with an established website. If the website is new you have to deal with google's sandbox but it may not be effected by sandbox if there are only 2,000 results.
