So I have a question about bots and programs for blackhat/white hat... seo/im in general.

I'm a pretty big noob when it comes to the technical aspects of computer programming and such. (aka just a noob all around)

My question is, what is the difference between a program that you have to install and a program that can just run?

Like the first "bot/program"... for instance a twitter/pinterest... (any social bot)...

In general do you usually have to INSTALL the program? Like it will have a "setup" icon where it installs...

Second version you can just open it... its in a folder already.

What is the difference? why do some people make programs you have to install and other programs are just easily able to open?

I ask this because I am at a public library to do most of my research on the world of SEO/IM.

Even if I wanted to, I could not install any programs. (The computers prevent you from installing things... even going on certain sites and such)

Is there a way around this?

    I have a USB... but like I said I don't know jack.

Thanks for reading... I know it was long

Generally speaking, to run a small software you just double click it, no setup, and it will run. The bigger softwares have a setup.exe, that will install the real software on your computer, add a shortcut to your desktop, etc. This would be the main difference, of course, just for you to get the idea.

I can make you a software that will just show you a message "I just got opened". But I can also make it so that you have the "setup.exe", and it will be installed on your computer, shortcut to desktop, etc, but does the same thing "I just got opened".

Locked down public library computers may not have the necessary framework packages installed to run most standalone bots.

Best option would be to get your own computer and internet connection somehow, even if you have to start really small.
