Quick question about people on Egay selling cars.

OK, I bought a 06 Dodge Magnum a few weeks back. The asking price was around 11k.

So my father gives me a call a few minutes ago, stating that he ran across a Magnum on Egay for $4,500. He said it is clean, moonroof, rims, etc. Now my father who live on the other coast as me wants to purchase the vehicle for my brother.

He called me asking my opinion, because he knows I do "something: on computers. I told him more than likely it is a scam. But I do not know exactly what the scam is.

Can anyone enlighten me on what the scam is with someone selling cars on ebay ? Or is this really legit ?

I would question as to whether the $4,500 is the current bid (which it could be, with a week or so left in the auction), or a buy it now price. I don't know prices on Magnums, but I venture to say that even at wholesale, they're worth more than $4,500. It's most probably just the current price with a while left in the auction (or perhaps the reserve price hasn't been met yet). If it is a BIN price, I'd be concerned about some other issue with the car itself.
