Hello BHW:

I want to offer a service on the Marketplace and I read the posting rules, but I have some questions about Trials/Review Copies that I would like to ask:
  1. Does the review copies must be free? or can be 50% off ?
  2. Does the review copy must be complete or can be half package? Ex: If the original package offer 30 files, can the review copy be 15 files?
  3. If my service have several plans for different budgets, does the review copy must be available for all plans or can I decide which plan apply?
The questions above refers to review copies for other member; but the "Posting Rules Thread" says I must provide a trial to the moderator in order to be approved.

"You need to provide a trial of your service before it will be approved. No exceptions! Once requested that trial must be provided within 1 week otherwise your thread maybe deleted."

  1. What exactly mean trial in english? a small chunk of the package? Ex: If the original package offer 30 files, a trial can be 5? or is the complete package?
  2. If trial is a small chunk, who decide the size of the trial, the moderator or me?
  3. Does the trial must be free?
Sorry if some questions are silly but I don't want to violate any rule

Thanks very much

For review copies to members on the site, you can offer them for free or 50% off or however you want. It can be a smaller version of what you are offering as well. For instance, if you are selling boxes of 12 widgets on the site, you can give one widget as a review to members or discount the box of widgets or even give a whole box of widgets for free for a review copy.

The receiving member HAS to indicate in his review how much of a discount he got or if he got it for free in return for a review copy.

The Moderator that is approving the thread needs your largest offer/package for free to test it and make sure it complies. So, if you are selling boxes of widgets in units of 12, 24 or 36, the Moderator who is testing the product or service would get the box of 36 for free.

Does that make sense in terms of what is expected or can I answer some more questions for you about that?

Edit - I just want to add this: the "free service" or product for the Mod to test means there is more work for him or her to do and it is not some kind of reward or bonus because they are a Marketplace Mod. That is work to do what they have to do to try and make sure that what is being offered is what the seller is saying it is offered.

It's seriously a bit of work they have to do and certainly not always pleasant work as well.
