Hey guys, this is my first post on bhw. I've been fiddling around with blogs and autoblogs for a while now, and my current project is using Wordpress Mu on 1 domain to make several subdomain autoblogs. The reason I use wordpress mu is the ease of creating new blogs with a few clicks and managing all the plugins together.

I was going to try making a whole bunch of autoblogs, but then I read a couple times on here that the max number of blogs that one domain (or one hosting account?) should host is 6-8, and I was wondering why that is. Is it because if there are too many, the hosting company will shut the account down? or is it because it looks bad to Google?

If that were the case, I suppose I'll have to purchase a couple more hosting accounts, so that if one is shut down, I have others to fall back on...

Would appreciate any help or insight, thanks!

what you need to do is just purchase a UNIVERSAL domain name to match your niches.
AllInsurance4U.com then you can create subdomain blogs on this MAIN domain up to 50 i say or pushing 75 MAX

    AllInsurance4U.com/(keyword niche blog)
    AllInsurance4U.com/(keyword niche blog)
    and so on......

Okay, thats generally what I had in mind. I made a domain about reviews, and all the subdomains would target specific product types (mp3 players, cars, etc). I suppose I'll just have to create them and see how it works out.

    Thanks guys!

I think there is no limitation on how much subdomains you can create. What stops you from making lets say 500 subdomains with autoblogs on them?

One domain could have as many subdomains as your provider allows. But if you try to host all those blogs on the same hosting things will slow down past 5, I thinks thats what you mean by 6-8 blogs?

There's generally no limit but one thing is you can't build up a high PR subdomain site without the top level domain having more PR..I'm not sure if this is a PR or link juice factor but it definitely exists. Once you have enough autoblogs linking to your blog host it will push it up so this won't be a problem eventually.

I have never read anything about a number of blogs (under one domain) that would start causing problems with a server. I'm sure there is a one, but it would be dependent on how many posts/day you are making (not really a big factor) and how much traffic/day you are driving to each blog.
