    Hi Guys,

As everyone from India is aware that GST is applicable from 1st july.

So how you guys are handling business after this. My question is: I'm a freelancer. Most of my services are being sold out of india. So do i have to register for GST number or is it applicable for freelancers like me?

Because as i understand as i'm not selling services in india and i don't think i should even get a GST number. What are your thoughts.

    Thanks
    Palwinder

You don't need GST registration. GST is only applicable for selling goods and services to Indian customers in India.

You would need GST once your turnover crosses 20 Lakhs / year

Is it 20 lakhs or 10 lakhs? Utterly confused with the new rules. I am salaried till now but I am gonna start a business and expecting a turnover of more than 18lakhs from now on. Do I need GST?

Recently i am trying to start a new project where i will be selling on amazon. I was into a jv with someone earlier on amazon seller project. Now i have found a very good niche even found supplier. I am trying to make him payment for bulk order so i can start with my amazon project. But banks in india are giving me hard time sending money to him ( he is in USA).

NOW i am confused what to do.

Okay as cleartax which has good credebility mentions, it is gonna be 20lakhs.

    Code:
    https://cleartax.in/s/impact-analysis-freelancers-under-gst
    here they say
SBC and KKC applies if you earn more than 15lakhs
    Code:
    https://cleartax.in/s/gst-hacks-for-service-startups-freelancers
Still not sure if the GST is applicable if we are servicing customers outside of India. I would appreciate if somebody has a credible resource which mentions that.

You know what? Indian tax system is going to kill Online Startups and Freelancers.

I got an Email from Facebook few days back. You can't run any FB ads without GST Number.

    Just to clarify again here:

    1. There is no need to get GST if you are providing online services to customers outside India. However you need to pay other relevant taxes on Income/Profit from such services.

    2. Exemption limit is INR 20 Lacs. So if your turnover is say INR 18 Lacs doing any business in India you don't need to apply for GST.

These posts are from 2015 and 2016. I understand all services rules. But i am not sure if all rules are same for gst as well. May be they have added some new columns and terms in GST.

But still not sure. As its all so confusing and no reliable source has confirmed anything.
