    Hi,
I was away from SEO for a couple of years. So a couple of years ago, blog farming was (kind of?) hot. I wasn't a member here but there were some good threads here about how to network your blogs, but everyone was very careful about not to be detected by the big G. Never do reciprocal links, only loosely link them etc. I had good results using rather aggressive blog farming myself (I personally made 50 blogs grouping into 5 groups, each had 10 which are tightly interlinked, and groups are loosely linked). It is actually still working well.

Now I'm back to SEO, and I noticed the hot thing is (and maybe "was") join the blog network.

So I'm wondering if what the big blog networks are doing is basically the same as blog farming (and the difference is we can join)? Is there any difference? That is my first question.

Secondly, I want to know if there is a newest trend of interlinking your blogs. I know link pyramid and link wheel are hot, but it seems you don't really interlink your first/second tier. Is interlinking your blogs (or web.2.0 properties for that matter) getting a big no no? Every time I see information about link pyramid (and link wheel), it says not to link the sites in the same tier together.

But if that's the case, it goes back to my first question. If blog networks are linking their blogs together, why can't we? (and when my old network is still working?)

Sorry if it was a stupid question. But I'd appreciate it if someone kindly explain the differences and current trend and stuff.

    Thanks!

Interesting... the name, the topic.... small world.

It'll be hard to get much info about the real origins of how blog farming worked and how the war between Google and farmers went down (the old war from 8+ years ago, not the 'new' war)....

I think a lot of us have learned that when it comes to networks, the less shared with unknown faces can often mean the more earned.

What I'm saying is simple... new person, suspicious name, suspicious topic... you might be completely innocent, but it will be a cold day in hell before I open up pandora's box on the topic. I think you will find that the whole question and topic will get a lot of:

    A) Cold Shoulders
    B) People who weren't around for the original fight trying to reinvent the wheel and makes sense of things NOW.

I'm preparing you really. If you want to learn about 'blog farming' you've got to get on the good side of a farmer who has weathered the storms... and that's not going to come in the form of just an open ended 'tell me the secrets' post. :)

    sorry :p

yep blog farms were the early stages of ALN (authority link network which is under heavy siege) basically they built services out of privately owned blogs

smaller scale there are blog link wheels and blog pyramids that work just fine

Hahaha, yeah I'm a new guy here and sorry I didn't realize it was such a big (suspicious, secret??) topic. Believe it or not, I'm inoccent:p and kind of a newbie(well, I ve done some BH stuff before but...). I just weren't around a while and what I was doing a couple of years ago (personal blog farming) is still working for me, but I don't hear much about it (blog farming) anymore and wondered about it. I was not even trying to actually ask the secrets...kinda thought there is some "formula" people in here kinda share. But I guess not.

But...I think you could answer this question though...is there a big difference between what used be called "blog farming" and what the "blog network" people are doing now? (I'm not asking HOW they are doing it. ;))

PS:I don't get the "name" part (what you said interesting about) - was(is) there someone named "terry" or something here before?

I'm sure there are a lot of Terry's here... :) There is one marketer named terry that's been on the scramble trying to leach certain info off certain forums, so I'm suspicious of any terry honestly. :D

That having been said, Google did recently make a big strike against a lot of blog networks, so it's not that what you are asking about it secret, so much as it is a 'sensitive' topic to publicly discuss running one effectively in light of the recent activity.

Oops, I should have chosen a different user name then, haha.
Thanks for the reply(s) though, and since I'm new, nice to meet/talk to you from the new suspicious Terry, hee hee :p
